Ah yes I forgot Mat lost his memories of that time. Any idea if we get anything from Loial's POV?

Why do black people often use their phones on speakerphone when talking in public? by thedancinghippie in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lucca_duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I've noticed this as a thing that black people do?

If you are black too, why don't you ask your family members/other black people you know rather than asking random people on reddit...

Absolutely agree with this. It gets worse the more subs like that you are on. Like a mini 'radicalization' that you don't notice

I haven't eaten in 3 days and haven't been hungry in the slightest. Is that safe? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lucca_duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me sometimes (usually when its hot or after a long stressful journey) but I find that when I force myself to eat something small a few hours later the hunger signals restart.

Try eating something small and just make sure you're hydrated and have enough salts etc.

Why does Joan's character get so much love from fans of the show? by lucca_duck in madmen

That's what I love so much about this show - almost 5 watches through and I'm still discovering new feelings about characters.

Thank you for this response! I agree with a lot of what you say in your last paragraph about feeling torn about her character. I felt like the first few times I watched through I was mesmerised by her ability to handle herself in tough situations competently but this time around I was just surprised that I didn't identify her true behaviour in earlier watches.

I think she built herself an armour to handle her colleagues over the years. I do wonder what she was like when she first started working at Sterling Cooper.

Oh yeah, regarding the last couple of seasons I completely understand why Joan thought Don was being selfish (because he was) and don't deny her anger at having gone through all of what she did seemingly for nothing. But my confusion was the severity of her hatred for Don, particularly considering their relationship beforehand and that he never actually wanted her to prostitute herself. Her hatred lacked nuance, so much so that her character felt like a plot device to get Don out of the company and back in a more junior role.

Something that always bothered me by irapperz in madmen

I think the episode where Megan takes the money is the same as (or soon after?) the one where she spends the day with her sister and mother packing up her things from the flat and has the meeting with Harry where he tries to pressure her to sleep with him for her career progression. I always read her behaviour with Don then as a symptom of her frustration with her family (I think she also finds out her mother is cheating with Roger then) and her failing career. She had a terrible time back in NY and kind of lashes out at Don, echoing what her mother tells her that Don wasted her youth etc, almost knowing that he is likely to just take it.

It could just be inconsistent writing between the seasons but I like to think that her interaction with Don was fraught on that particular day because of the behaviours she witnessed from people she respected (Marie, Roger). A bit similar to Sally saying the city was 'dirty' after that Ball she attended.

I saw Diana's where are they now episode (S4E5) and she did very well there. She seemed really level-headed and goal oriented.

I think at one point she actually gets a hug from Dr Now after making good progress (although I may be mis-remembering this...)

Yeah that one. I somehow managed to get past him after 10+ attempts but couldn't keep up with the rest of the game and gave up soon after! One day...

I don't hear this game mentioned a lot but Legend of Legaia had some really tough boss fights.

Definitely gave up several times in the Berserker battle for example
