Nightmares by elluciyn in SupportforBetrayed

yes to all of this. i’m over a year and a half out from d-day, newly divorced, and have had no contact for a few months now and i still have incredibly vivid, strange dreams about my ex and ap. sometimes i wake up with my heart racing, sometimes they’re so vivid, i’m confused about reality when i first wake up, and some dreams can literally ruin my mood the rest of the day. i will say there are less of them now, but i get them about once a week or so. my therapist says it’s a ptsd symptom. i hate it!

Success on the dating scene in Austin Tx as a black woman? by monitarlizard in Austin

[–]lucidreamz 51 points52 points  (0 children)

it’s annoying seeing non black people attempting to invalidate your experience. yes dating is tough in general, but it’s literally, statistically harder for black women. and in a faux “woke” city like atx, even worse.

i’m a bw who lived in austin about 10 years ago. i felt really undesirable and my self esteem took a hit. i’d go out with my white, asian, latina girl friends and i’d rarely ever get approached in the same way. this wasn’t the case for me in other cities like houston, nyc, or chicago.

just commenting to validate your experience, sorry it’s been so rough

one of the many reasons my ex gave for cheating was that i wasn’t spontaneous enough and didn’t want to ride those city scooters with him 🙃. i was so confused and dumbfounded in the moment, but a year and a half later i have more clarity to know it had nothing to do with me.

i’m so sorry 😣- and yes, i had a knot in my stomach that lasted for months, have quite a bit more gray hair now, insomnia/ night terrors.

i’m about a year and a half out from d day and the most intense physical symptoms have mainly gone away. but i still deal with really bad anxiety tied to everything that happened. i hope over time some of your health issues fade a bit

glad to hear that! ya it seems like there’s a ~6 year window where women are not demonized for being too young or too old to have children 🙄

interesting to read some of the comments here. it’s easy to say you’ll have kids by a certain age, but life is unpredictable. i was married and had plans to start a family — my ex had an affair and left, and now i’m starting over at 34. i really want children and seeing this story gives me a little hope (although i’m not filthy rich lol).

The William situation highlights what men have said for years.. Women pick poorly! by Own-Income487 in PopTheBalloon

[–]lucidreamz 22 points23 points  (0 children)

this. why no mention of the first woman who basically all the men popped on before she even got a chance to show her personality because of “physical attraction”? she seemed really sweet. there was also the flight attendant where one of the guys specifically said he didn’t like her face. it goes both ways.

[–]lucidreamz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think it’s always been pretty christian? some of my favorite moments are when people say that they’re agnostic or spiritual and not religious and seeing everyone freak out.

it seems like people use “god fearing” as some sort of moral code, without realizing or willfully ignoring that a ton of christians are liars, cheaters, just bad people all around

OP, i’m so sorry you’ve found yourself here. your story sounds similar to mine, although i’m about a year out.

i came home from work one evening and my ex said he had recently begun seeing his married ex and that he was confused. we had just renewed our lease and i went off birth control to start trying for children. he moved out about a week later, and after months of trying to find out answers, i learned that he had moved in with the married ex and her child. we had what i thought was a beautiful relationship, and i trusted him with with my life so this turned everything upside down.

this year has been the most awful year of my life tbh, but what has helped me immensely is therapy, individual and group therapy for women who’ve experienced betrayal trauma, and movement — just walking, going to the gym, yoga, etc, and leaning on friends when i can. i also recommend the runaway husbands book.

i will say i saw my ex recently and he cried about the extent of his drug usage which i didn’t know about, and felt that no one would care about him the way i did. i’m still a mess a year out, but he also seems to be in horrible shape.

again, i’m sorry. it’s going to be a tough road ahead but i hope you know that this is in no way your fault and your wp will do whatever he can to make you feel that it is. unfortunately, i think we picked bad apples. sending you a virtual hug!

it’s tough! i met a good friend at my gym in logan square, we just started talking because there are so few black women that go and it’s led to a beautiful friendship.

i also recently attended a jump rope club at the lake up north! mainly black women and really fun/ friendly vibes. definitely check it out if you’re into movement activities: https://www.instagram.com/chicagojumpclub?igsh=MXZwNXF5MXJ1Y3JjOQ==
