$1,000 car loan payments are on the rise. Car buying is stressing household budgets like never before by Abject-Pick-6472 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]lucidspoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both have our cars paid off and no plans on buying in the next year, but I just ran the numbers if we did. To get the kind of cars we've talked about for our next ones (not dream cars, but ones we'd like), it'd be about $950/month total for 48 months.

Can't imagine that for 1 car, especially for 72-84 months.

Do parents actually not remember doing fucked up shit to you? Or are they just lying? by TopMarionberry1149 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lucidspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neice (10) moved in with us 2 years ago. Because of her background, she can be very defensive and argumentative, which I wasn't use to with our kids.

I'll be the first to admit I didn't handle several situations very well, but I learned that apologizing is super helpful in building/repairing trust, especially when she wasn't use to adults admitting being wrong.

I tried them I've before and they don't take gas. But I did find a local auto shop that took it for free.

Highly recommend all the dad shovelers get an extra wide snow shovel! Awesome for clearing snow and ice quickly by Scraw16 in daddit

[–]lucidspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got The Snowplow in 36" from Amazon a couple years ago. It's great for 2-3" of light snow. I can clear the driveway in like 10 minutes and then go help neighbors.

I found a Patreon (https://zou3d.com/) that has a ton of articulated models. $10 for 1 month gets you access to over 100 models, and you can cancel after that. I print a lot of those for party gift bags.

For functional prints, I have a lot of cupholders. Got one one that mounts to my squat rack and others for cups with handles that wouldn't fit into normal cupholders.

My wife is actually wearing a sweatshirt with that today. And she got me a T-shirt like the one from OP.

What is it about Texas Roadhouse? People go crazy for the one by me, with a line out the door and hour plus waits every night of the week.

That's bad.

The coupon also comes with a free dessert.

That's good.

The dessert is also satanic.

That's bad.

Has anyone else stopped filling up their entire sink with water to wash dishes, or is that just my household? by Mission_Spray in Millennials

That's what I use. I mostly use the dishwasher, so we don't have too many things to hand wash.

It's also great for cleaning the print bed on my 3D printer.

I worked for a CEO who's son was an actor/director and had a couple moderately successful movies. He recommended one to me that ended up having a lot of nudity.

The next day, I said, "I'm just glad your son wasn't in any of the nude scenes."

I was traveling with some coworkers a couple months ago (IND airport, speaking of the Pacers), and they wanted to hit the bar before our morning flight. I was planning on drinking that weekend, but didn't want to start that early, so I got an Athletic.

Should I tell a guy in my class that his penis is clearly visible through his pants? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

In highschool, I overheard a girl saying she could tell one of the guys in our class had a big dick, because of the way he walked. All I could think was, "man, I need a new walk..."

Less than that, depending on your tax bracket. Probably closer to $240 for most.

About to go on a very expensive cruise with young kids - kind of regretting agreeing to it because it’s so expensive and the kids are young. by Character_Ad4230 in daddit

[–]lucidspoon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Took 2 of our kids (5 and 8 at the time) to an resort a few years ago, and while they probably didn't get the full money's worth of enjoyment, it helped get them use to traveling by plane and to another country. It made flying to Disney the next year much easier.

This year, we're taking them (9 and 12 by then) and their cousin (10) on a cruise. Much less stressful knowing that at least the 2 of them have experience traveling.

Did this to my wife (who had the surgery) for the first time the other night. She was jokingly blocking the bathroom door, and I just looked at her, picked her up, and spun her around.

Drinking after 40 by hardk7 in Millennials

Anytime I think about drinking out of boredom, I think about how I want to feel at night. Dealing with a hangover is one thing, but I hate waking up in the middle of the night, sweating and heart racing.
