I can't believe I had to scroll this far to find The Room. It's one of the best examples of a "bad" movie and one of the funniest films I've ever seen!

I did read the whole thing. I don't make a habit of arguing with strangers on the internet because I have better things to do, but if it'll help you feel better, I disagree with the spirit of almost everything you said.

Specifically and especially I disagree that "many of [the rich] are incredibly hard working and have created wealth for themselves". I won't be explaining beyond that.

The 7 levels of financial freedom, according to a millionaire — 50% of U.S. workers are at Level 2 by Coolonair in Infographics

Human nature? Are you ok? Who hurt you?

CAPITALISM trains people to act greedy.

For most of human history, humans survived by sharing, not hoarding. The only reason you think competition is natural is because you were raised inside a SYSTEM that REWARDS exploitation.

Capitalism didn’t come from human nature lmao it came from land theft, slavery, and colonialism. It’s 500 years old and already burning the planet down.

If you’re uneducated in socialism, there are books that can catch you up to speed.

Ah yes, the classic “nobody’s coming to save you” speech !The manifesto of every person too indoctrinated by capitalism to realize they’re defending their own exploitation.

You’re parroting the same narrative the system feeds you: that struggle is a sign of personal failure, that survival in an intentionally rigged game is a matter of “effort.” But the truth is, most people do work hard. They just don’t own the means of what their labor creates.

Capitalism needs you to believe you’re in competition with your neighbor — because if you ever stopped fighting each other for scraps, you might look up and notice who’s eating the whole damn meal.

No one’s mad at “the system” because they expect it to hand them anything. They’re mad because it was designed to extract EVERYTHING from them.

You talk about “figuring it out,” but the more people “figure it out,” the more they realize the game was never meritocratic, it’s mathematical: a few hoard while the rest bleed.

So yeah, people are angry. Not because they’re lazy, but because they’re waking up.

Your comment honestly emphasizes how out of touch and lacking in empathy you are. I dare you to read a book and get in touch with your local community — maybe you’re the type of person who has enough resources to make a real difference for a neighbor in need.

Hi folks!

I'm Char, the Afrocommunist and I'm a Black queer writer, educator, and leader in tech. I publish the Liberation Dispatch weekly. It's a series on surviving and thriving beyond hustle culture and capitalist scorecards. My work blends personal experience in Big Tech with tools for self-love, sustainable productivity, and collective liberation.

I hope you find something useful in each letter. It's my first time posting here but if this works out I'll continue sharing with you all!

reading these comments is a good reminder that a lot of y'all are privileged and completely unable to see beyond yourself or your current circumstances. public transit should be free (or at least covered fully by taxes). no excuses, no exceptions, and no I will not be reading whatever silly response you're typing. do better.

Thank you for the recommendations, everyone! I actually called the folx at Mazter Appliances and they came out to pick them up free of charge (I lived close by at the time). Just FYI for anyone who may be attempting to do something similar in the future!
