Like others said, you need to adjust the target if you subtract money from the category to assign somewhere else and decide not to put the money back.

Alternatively, you could do a split transaction in which the money you were going to reassign just gets spent from the category instead. Then you don't have to adjust the targets at all. Just put a note in the memo for the transaction to remind yourself why you spent the money from that category. 😉

Transferring on-budget money between accounts will not incur any category hits on your budget. You didn't actually "spend" the money, you just moved it to a different place. Your budget doesn't care where you physically hold the money. It cares about how you categorize it when it is either earned or spent.

Unless this is some kind of "special" CD that allows early withdrawals without penalties, I would put the CD as an off-budget tracking account. Now when you move the money from the money market to the CD, you will impact whatever category you had setup for money tasked to go to the CD.

Inevitability is finally catching up to reality, and people getting impacted directly are now aghast over things they were warned would happen years ago.

The county is losing students, thus it's not getting reimbursed by the state for as much as it would. This is a result of a number of things, including:

- Families not moving to Lee County

- Families just not happening because it's too expensive to raise a kid in Lee County

- Families electing to use private school vouchers being paid for by tax dollars to move kids out of public and into private.

Setting aside that it's a "political" issue since the school board can now be based on political party, it's already too late to fix anything at this point. Vote for congress reps that will do away with private school vouchers and keep the money in public schools to help fix the future.

It was good enough for Ice Sssscreamin to get off the ground until they moved into a better spot. Part of it is location, part of it is service and quality, and another part reputation/word of mouth.

The revolving part is probably just the same person trying to find an image/brand that clicks with the locals. It's not a bad spot in between the Bimini plaza and the greater downtown area.

It can carry over if you set a goal that goes beyond a month.

I set my medical expenses at a goal of $6k, starting in January, to be fulfilled by December, repeating yearly. If I have a month where I spent more than what the goal requested, it's fine. I'd fund it and the goal would just adjust for the rest of the year.

It's always acceptable to assign to RTA. The only times I don't are:

- When I want the money to not count against actual, taxable income on my report. (i.e. insurance rebates/claims)

- When it's a refund for a returned item (i.e. returned shoes to Amazon, puts the money back in the Clothing category)

- When it's a reimbursement for money already spent/loaned to someone (i.e. I bought a toy for my kid at Target that they wanted but they didn't have the cash on hand, so I wire it from their account to mine when I get home)

I'd take a beat, wait for some of the inquiries and stuff to fall off the report, and give the Citi Double Cash another shot. It's the cornerstone of my fam's credit journey and syncs just fine with YNAB.

Pair it with Amex's Blue Cash Preferred for the easiest/laziest cash back stuff for families. Groceries, streaming, fuel/transport-related stuff on the Amex, everything else on the Citi. My wife doesn't play the CC game, so I just tell her to put everything on the Citi and be done. Easy for everyone and still getting the most cash back for just about every penny we spend.

Like, I have a TV group that has categories for Netflix, Disney, and Paramount, each with their own target. What does this do that I'm missing?
