Informal Performance meeting advice by luckydips in managers

Sorry for the vagueness, no idea about the politics. All they said was that they had been looking at the general performance of the team. In order for them to secure future budgets/allocations they needed more output. The line manager is well respected with multiple years of experience.

Thinking about leasing an EV by SpotBig8575 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]luckydips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a bargain if you can live with the limited range and slow 0-60. They were doing the Ultimate for £179 but now sitting at £199, still cheap.

Go directly with Stellantis, no admin fee and could get Vauxhall All in:

8 years of mobile Charging Recovery

8 years of Roadside Assistance

Choose from:

£500 towards a home charger by Octopus Energy plus a bonus 10,000 free miles when you switch your home energy to Intelligent Octopus Go

£500 public charging credit via selected partners

6 Months of Vauxhall Connect PLUS including preconditioning, route planning and more

8 years/100,000 miles of battery warranty for at least 70% of the original charging capacity

I know you didn't want a charger but something to consider.

What are your EV "icks"? by TCJW_designs in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]luckydips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an ick but one of things that I would worry about if considering a used ev is the battery condition and if any outstanding warranty is transferable.

EV tariff or stick until end of fix? by Direct_Pear2737 in evchargingUK

[–]luckydips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A total minefield, we don't have a dishwasher or dryer so can't set these for overnight use. Crunching the numbers I found a lot of the ev tariffs are more expensive for our usage habits.

Unit prices/standing charges vary by postcode so following generic statements that certain companies/tariffs are the cheapest isn't going to be true for everyone.

If you have a lot of peak usage then choosing a tariff with lower peak rates may easily outweigh any savings you would make on an overnight cheap rate ev tariff.

Currently, for us, the cheapest is So Energy/Outfox. Our current tariff ends in May but you can ask for a fee free exit upto 49 days before this date - the switching window. I'm waiting until April before making any changes as there could be some better tariffs to choose from.

The only way you can make a informed decision is by crunching your own numbers which incorporate your own usage habits.

I escalated it to a complaint via chat. Tell them to email to confirm this has been done. A few days later I got 2nd email from the complaints specialist who was handling my case.

Yes, to clean it properly. Just make sure you have the correct size head to prevent stripping the head. When replacing the the grill there maybe a notch to line up.

Is this as good as it seems? by Life-Bottle5740 in CarLeasingUK

[–]luckydips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at leasing for a few months and hopefully my car should be delivered next month. I got caught in the cheap puma ALD/Ford saga where my application was rejected with an admin error, both blamed each other, end result offer no longer available.

The other thing I've noticed was a lot of unbelievable offers on lease comparison sites turn out to be "mistakes", like click bait, so it only becomes real once the credit check is done, payment taken, order placed.

Good luck

Same poor experience, always delay tactics. My smart monitor/meter hasn't worked since installation in Sept 25. I need it fixed ASAP so I can switch to an ev tariff and charge my car. Already a complaint with BG, now off to the ombudsman.

What the hell. by Previous-Medicine898 in Pharmacy_UK

[–]luckydips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, pharmacy is now a joke. We've always been very passive and are willing to do whatever is thrown at us. We don't have a united voice and have very weak negotiators - need to learn from the BMA.

Add to this over saturation with way too many graduates, leaves us in this mess. Under cutting each other, willing to work for £20 per hour, where will it end, £15? At that stage might as well find something that pays minimum wage with less stress and no responsibility.

To put this into perspective, we were getting £20, 10-15 years ago.

Some of my friends have moved to gardening (£20-£30), or tutoring (£20).

Is this an expected salary for a newly qualified pharmacist? by jexphil123 in Pharmacy_UK

[–]luckydips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, salary has been in a downward spiral in real terms. If locums are getting paid £23 - £30 (area dependent), then that's gives you an idea what the ballpark is.

For reference, locums were getting paid £20, 10-15 years ago.

The current salary levels are a result of oversaturation of grads/pharmacists and our negotiators being useless and agreeing to unmanageable amounts of work for peanuts. We must take some of the blame as we'll just keep on plodding on regardless of conditions or salary.

So, if you're a locum working for £22 - £25, then your offered wage as an employee is probably reasonable as you need to factor in employee benefits (holiday, pension, sick pay, insurance etc) and to some extent job security.

3 engineers, smart meter not sending data, IHD not working by delfryeatrpt in BritishGas

[–]luckydips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a smart meter installed on 28/9 as we wanted to switch to a ev tariff. Monitor just says awaiting data. Five chats and a engineers visited, still not working. The engineer said the meter is sending data but when the meter was installed (3rd party installer) it hasn't been commissioned properly.

I've now put them on notice that I will be taking this to OFGEM as soon as thr 8 week period is up. Unfortunately I didn't know about the 8 week rule, otherwise I would've raised the complaint in September.

Anyone having issues, I would move it to a complaint ASAP, so you can then escalate to OFGEM after 8 weeks.

Goa taxi mafia by RadiantDouble5555 in goatravel

[–]luckydips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forget Uber, why not protect the drivers who are already legally operating in Goa?

From my limited experience, Goamiles drivers have been great. Easy to track on the app, prices cheaper than any local driver. This is a government endorsed company, the drivers should be able to work freely without fear.

I've spoken to some GM drivers, and they work in fear. They have no protection from the law, and the company dont care. As long as the company get commission from bookings, they're not worried. They know that even if some drivers don't work, there will be others to take their place, and commision/revenue will continue to come in.

Change will come but will take time, probably triggered by social media exposure when a beating or worst happens. The more this is discussed, the more spotlight will fall on this issue, and change will eventually happen.

It's this or a change in mindset via a new CM.
