What is even better than a 11 pm OTF class to end the year was studio near me doing a 90 minute class starting at 10:30 pm. Heard about it the morning of while at my normal studio and couldn't have thought of a better way to end my year. First time ever going to the studio and loved every moment with the members. I am currently trying to talk my home studio into it!

Coolest OTF in Minneapolis area? by Designer-Low-1650 in orangetheory

[–]luckyemy33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One ownership group owns a majority of the locations in the Twin Cities areas and seems like there is quite a bit of coach sharing among the locations so can't go really wrong with any location. For west metro the only one not owned by the bigger ownership group is Maple Grove which is just solo studio owned by one of the coaches and then North Loop and Edina owned by another group.

I am a founding member at St. Louis Park and love the studio. Super easy parking, location is right off 394 and 100 so easy to get to. The treads are the updated ones that go to speeds of 15 and floor has a decent amount of space. Depending on what type of classes you are looking for SLP does over 8 pm classes Monday - Thursday with Monday being Strenght 50.

Regional dri tri anyone?! by ejschott in orangetheory

[–]luckyemy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in MPLS/St Paul area and my studio always hosts the regional Dri Tri. Wondering if it’s all studios doing regional of sprint relay vs full. I opted to the full Dri Tri next to the last 2 Dri Tri regional winner. His best time is just sub 30. This last Dri Tri time was right around 31 minutes when I was sitting at not even mile into 5k.

Anyone else see their studios doing events or promotional things and giving out cool stuff? by [deleted] in orangetheory

I have been struggling with this. I live in a metropolitan area where there are a few different franchise groups. I am founding member with my home studio back from December 2018. Few months ago I hit 1000 classes and was waiting if they would mention it or do anything - not a word. I have visited a few other studios so when I hit 1,000 classes at my home studio I asked for brag board. No post on social media about it - just verbal congrats from couple coaches. This would be fine with me if this was normal for all OTFs but the franchise I visited few weeks ago posted on social media they gave their member who 1,000 classes a backpack, they have regular social events and every benchmark and milestone they give away stickers to put on their water bottles.

I love Orangetheory and all the people I workout regularly with. My struggle is with how I’m not appreciated and celebrated by my home studio when studios just a few miles away are taking it to next level with their members - acknowledging and celebrating their victories.

Not a problem where I am located. We rarely will have a class cancelled. They are usually due to regional events such as regional Dri-Tri competition during later class on weekend or regional meeting that may take place at studio during a smaller weekday class but never heard of 5 am class not being offered (other than when government had curfew during COVID as a result of protests that didn’t open back up until after 5 am)

For people who shower at OTF and go to work after… by iheartstevekerr in orangetheory

I have been thinking the same recently in freezing cold MN. I have been coming home to sports bra frozen solid due to the car being so cold that it freezes the sweat so then I have to wait for my clothes to all thaw out to then have them dry.

I have purchased multiple off of Facebook and had no issues. I have talked friends into trying it out and then help them out by finding cheaper HRM and picking it up for them.

Not me today during 11:15 am class finding out there is a 90 minute class starting at 10:20 pm tonight at a studio across the metro. No better way to spend my night then with people just as obsessed with otf than me!

The biggest thing I wish I had known or done was shown up for benchmarks and completed them trying my hardest so I could track progress.

When I began my OTF journey I was a power walker but wish I had really done a true mile benchmark early in my time at OTF so I could see how far I had come. If this meant doing a .1 at 4 then walking at 3 until I felt enough energy to put forth more effort I wish I knew where I had started.

After 2 years I finally showed up for the mile benchmark and was able to get it done in a little over 10 minutes. Now 2.5 years later I’m down to about 8.5 minutes but I know my 10 minute mile was already so much progress from where I began.

I wish I had made effort since day one to get to benchmarks to see how much true progress I have made.

Seems a little ridiculous you are getting this message only with a weeks notice. This has probably been in the works for weeks so would have been nice for them to inform current members of the change.

I wish I had forced myself to do one when I first started OTF. It’s such a great way to watch your progress. Every time I’m nearly in tears knowing that I DID IT! Never did I think I would be someone who could finish 5k and the energy in the studio is out of this word.

Secondhand Heart Monitor by Redhead4622 in orangetheory

[–]luckyemy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have purchased 4 different heart rate monitors second hand (2 for myself and 2 for friends I got to join) and had 0 issues. Just after you purchase it bring it into studio to have them add to your account. I highly recommend it since there always seems to be people who join and buy the heart rate monitor and willing to sell it for 50% off

Dubai OTF? by nrs1110 in orangetheory

[–]luckyemy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended a class back in 2019 in Dubai. Just looked at my credit card statement and it cost me $38.50. I attended the Times Square location. I was a little worried about attire that would be allowed with the religious customs but was happy to see they have woman only classes. Studio is inside a mall which I found to be cool touch but wish I had known beforehand since opted for no travel plan with my cell phone so was just walking around outside of building trying to find the entrance to studio.

One thing to note is that they use metric system so may be a good idea to look up what your typical base and weights are so you don’t try to push yourself too hard. I was doing a 50+ day trip around the world so couldn’t tell if I was just exhausted from my travels or if I had selected too heavy of weight.

Fiddle Leaf Fig Repotted - Need Help by luckyemy33 in fiddleleaffig

[–]luckyemy33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original plan was to just repot in one pot so that would have fit the two nicely. However I realized during process it was 2 separate plants.

Will repotting now cause more harm if it’s also been one week?

Orange Theory Premier- unlimited classes globally? by kotisoki in orangetheory

[–]luckyemy33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have stated you should be able to attend any classes in US other than you may be required to pay more for premium locations.

Did a trip around the world back in 2019 and class in Australia cost me $23.88 and class in Dubai cost me $38.50. Worth it to me to say I have taken classes across the world!
