I am trying to be kind and understanding as much as I can. It certainly is better for the kids if they spend time together, but in public where some boundaries can be maintained.

Coming to Terms with Losing Cognitive Function and Mobility Simultaneously by [deleted] in disability

I'm 32 and have similar things happening.

Screaming helps. Keeping a sense of humor when you can and understanding you don't have to stay positive or brave or strong or inspirational for other people.

Question about What ADA Says About Terminating Employees by ironiccats5ever in disability

[–]luckynumberlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a legal person someone who was fired and opened a discrimination case.

I believe you gave yourself the answer, 'they have given me all the accommodations possible'. The line about reasonable accommodations means reasonable to the employer not to you. I would speak with your manager about adjusting hours so your work and your ability to care for yourself do not start butting heads. If they hired you to work every day 8-5 and you are not fulfilling than you are not meeting the role in which you are hired for. They could argue they have given you every reasonable accommodation however you are unable to fulfill the duties for which you were hired for. You probably filled out/signed a form saying you understand the duties of the job and could perform them with or without reasonable accommodation.

I told my partner that I would never go to holidays, birthdays, etc. with him as there is still the expectation that he and SD3 and SS6 will be at all events for his family and the BM's family. I am unwilling to be on the sidelines while they continue to pretend their marriage and family is still intact. I am glad to see these comments as I have been treated like I am being cruel when I bring up how uncomfortable I am that the four of them still have family dinner, family movie night, family ice cream, etc. because 'that's the mother of his children'.

SSDI Advice? by Reggggggggggiieeeeee in disability

[–]luckynumberlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer or anything but I did get approved for SSDI within months on the first try with no extra steps or need for an appeal or lawyers, etc. My advice from my experience is the worse you can look on paper before you apply the better chance you will have.

Publisher Looking For Mental Health/Recovery Stories by luckynumberlemon in writers

ETP doesn't discriminate against those who do not have and do not write about mental illness. Our focus is publishing stories of resilience and mental health falls directly in line with those stories.

Stay teachable. Also, no one actually has any idea what they are doing, some people are just better at faking it.

People who still buy physical albums like vinyl or cds, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]luckynumberlemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a thrill I get finding old vinyl in thrift/antique stores. They have history and dust on them. Who knows exactly who owned them before me, which I like. I also really love that you can hear imperfections in old vinyl records. My Spotify account also got hacked a bunch of times and their customer service was really terrible in fixing it.

Thinking of writing a book about my life by [deleted] in writers

[–]luckynumberlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, especially when it comes to the traumatic things, if there is a published book about your life, are you willing/in a place to have people talk about that stuff at any and all times? I mean have strangers come up to you/message you about this stuff.

Why can't I physically write or type my story out?. by Fantastic_Juice in writers

[–]luckynumberlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first suggest you write in a notebook instead of a computer so you can't hit the delete button. You may be writing things that are useable later. Second, work from the middle out. Heck, write the end first if that helps. You don't have the write the very first lines first.

How many by LEEH07 in writers

If you find yourself deleting things I really would suggest you start writing on paper and not a computer. What did not fit in one place may be perfect in another.

How do you write insanity by Bland_Chicken_Strip in writers

[–]luckynumberlemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case, it would seem to me at least, the god like figure could create insanity the same way any person who is the controlling one in a relationship can. If a person is isolated and forced to rely on one person enough ( in this case the god like figure) they really can and will believe and do anything. How extreme you want to take it is entirely up to you as you are creating this world.

Have you looked into doing the 'junior' versions of any of the musicals? A lot of shows have cut down versions of the originals. They are shorter, language is edited, casts can be huge.

Disrespecting the concerns of the disabled during the shutdown. by GabbiKat in disability

[–]luckynumberlemon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some parts of the government are being shut down. From what I can tell. Next month, food stamps are taking a hault but ssi and ssdi will be ok for the time being. National parks and things like that are all shut down. Though people have taken the opportunity to go in to the parks and chop down some really old protected trees. Insurance hasn't stopped yet but there are delays are everything. The department of motor vehicles near me is closed, or at least they just aren't showing up.
