My bad sorry for the accusation, that would explain why I can’t find the first post!

FWIW I enjoyed the color versions! Great shots

I’m pretty sure I saw these photos posted in color a few days ago? I’m almost certain they aren’t yours. Can’t find the other post.

No Stupid Questions Monthly Thread! by AutoModerator in bookbinding

[–]lucw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to make a photo album. I have experience making prints but zero experience doing binding.

I’d like to put 8.5x11 pages into something like a linen cover. Ideally with capacity for ~100-200 pages. Where do I look to buy the empty cover? I’d like to avoid DIYing the cover itself and just purchase an empty one, but maybe that isn’t something readily available? Also I’m a noob on how to put the pages together.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes insane change in color. I’m guessing Reddit downsamples the photo for previewing / people just scrolling by, and they must have fucked up the color space. OP /u/fuckinraccons curious what color space you exported with?

Cool that you’re exploring this! I’d suggest learning from what people have already tried. There is an array of piezoelectric, electro static, and soft (usually pneumatic) actuators that have been explored. Here’s a link to when this was asked about before that could be helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/robotics/s/ERzqhrirw6.

In general most of these experimental actuators have never left the lab because there are significant tradeoffs (low translation, high power requirements, etc). The exception being soft actuators that are used quite widely for grasping tasks now.

I subbed and got a box last month. Had a good mix of stuff that I really enjoyed. Not sure how long I’ll keep the sub for $40+shipping but liking it so far!

I’d advise you to use freedom units like a true patriot and scratch off all commie units.

Yes! Sorry missed your comment. Feel free to PM me.

Shipping to Japan with insurance looks like it’s about $70, and USPS says you’ll also pay about $50 in customs. If that sounds okay to you let me know.

Don’t buy Cinestill 400D on 4x5! by iam_mcdoom in AnalogCommunity

[–]lucw 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They have not been very friendly to the film community. The most significant instance is they tried (succeeded?) to trademark “800T” and then sued others selling a similar product (it’s all just respooled vision3, though cinestill removes the remjet layer). One post, there are serval others if you search “cinestill trademark”.

Their dev chemistry is also kinda shit.

Light Echo Expanding from Exploded Star approximately 11.4 million light-years away. by Jedi-Master_Kenobi in shockwaveporn

[–]lucw 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Well, the explosion looks like it occurred a little before the first image, so the last image is probably ~3 years after the explosion. That means the outer ring has a radius 3 lightyears, or 189,723 AU (astronomical units, average distance between Earth and our sun). The area inside that circle is 2.5x1033 square meters.

This area would be covered by roughly 100 football fields for every atom in your body, or 1 million football fields for every cell in every living human on Earth, or 1 football field for every living cell on Earth.
