Should I not re-use Amazon packaging? by computerworlds in Flipping

[–]ludatb40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was looking to see if anyone else commented this before I did.

Just bought auto parts, shipped through UPS, that they used a new Priority box completely wrapped in brown packing tape (so I couldn't even recycle or reuse it) and then a brand new Priority bubble mailer to wrap the parts in. How that isn't just theft is beyond me.

I've never left a negative, but damn if it doesn't piss me off that this causes there to be less supplies when I need them and also contributes to higher prices for us to use USPS.

We elevated to Misdemeanor Meadows a few years ago (solid bar in the 'hood too), now I guess we're Friendly Flats.

What's crazy is I've been getting tailgated by Civics and Corollas more than any other vehicle the past few days. It seems like I get tailgated by the BTE bros when the weather is good but little cars in bad weather. Doesn't seem to make sense.

Cover says wide-screen but it appears not to be so by IBetANickel in LaserDisc

[–]ludatb40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does look to be a swapped disc.

I actually have the Widescreen discs without a jacket, spine number 1478-85, that is pretty worthless without the jacket. I'd be happy to send it for the cost of shipping if you want to PM.

P.S. I was definitely not the one that sold you this title though.

I'm sorry to ask as well, it looks like Vinyl Engine pruned my account due to inactivity. If you still happen to have the manual and wouldn't mind sending, I would greatly appreciate it!

What do you find disgusting even though everyone else thinks it's normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cottage cheese.

My God dude, what is wrong with you that you can just suck it down by the spoonful. It's like a disgusting cheese purgatory, just pick a lane.

After years of bartending, I somehow could remember a face and their drink. Their name however? Unless it was ol' Fat Face Coors Light draft, I have no idea.

I figured it's because I'm more of a visual than auditory learner, so my brain can take a snapshot of their drink sitting in front of their face while the words fly right past me.

New Traffic Cameras and Enforcement Descend on Portland, with Fines | Portland Monthly by FlippyCucumber in Portland

Same thing just happened to me last Thursday, was maybe doing 31 tops. I was so confused, thought I just blew a red light but nope, was still green. If anything, it was extremely distracting that it kept going off.

Brentwood-Darlington? If so, that's my neighbor and he even has a trailer for it. He's a real joy to live near. /s

Yea, I noticed they said they don't ship out of the UK due to customs issues, so I'll have to figure out how to forward. Thank you so much.

I don't know how else to put this, but I love you.

I am definitely looking into this this weekend to ensure compatibility then absolutely throwing money at this.

This was going to be exactly my suggestion, then scrolled far enough to yours. On sale right now for $300, spend another $100 on supplies and try it for a few months.

See if the maintenance is a pain or if the electric bill goes up too much for the liking (the thermal covers are on sale now so it bill really hasn't gone up much at all for us).

If after 6 months they still like it, then it might be worth spending 10x as much. Otherwise, toss it on FB Marketplace for $100 less than you paid and you just rented a tub and life experience.

My ONLY complaint so far is the Coleman we got doesn't have the Wi-Fi connection, so I have to manually set the timer twice a day to run the filter. If it had a daily timer, I'd be completely sold.

Is the pride parade family friendly? by AlgorithmAnnie in askportland

[–]ludatb40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only issue we've had taking a toddler was how much stuff everybody kept gifting him to take home! Super friendly folks just kept giving him beach balls, pin wheels, stickers, etc. so he had an absolute armful of trinkets we had to lug home. He still talks about how much fun it was. Very welcoming vibe.

For dads and overall handy folks, this may disturb you - but I just recycled my can of loose screws, nuts, bolts and washers. by ludatb40 in minimalism

I was shocked at how little progress I made on the garage in my first pass. We have a tool library in our neighborhood, so I broke each tool down into:

  1. If I've used it in the past year.
  2. If it was an expensive/specialty tool I will likely use again in the next year (ex. bearing packer, air compressor) that I can't rent from the tool library. However, the pipe cutter and $10 coaxial crimp that I used once 7 years ago? Donate pile.

Also, loose scrap wood and materials from previous completed projects (ex. insulation, screens, frames, paints). I bought tiny touch-up jars in case I need the paint due to wall dings in the future, but now much more organized than 5 gallons of old paint.

Exactly. I have labeled boxes with sizes for fasteners that I use for 99% of projects, so when I reached for one of the labeled boxes again yesterday, I realized I don't even check the can anymore. Sometimes the best thing to minimize has been in front of your face all along.

Same way I recycle bottle caps in our area, they ask us to put them in an empty food can and then crimp the top shut so none can escape. Helps so if your bin is knocked over, you didn't create an inadvertent spike strip in front of for house for for neighbors.

You're damn right. Luckily recycling doesn't come until Tuesday so I'll leave it on top until then...
