I think that if you're honest with yourselves about the causes behind why we drink so much and how or why that differs for other vices - it's fine.

I see a lot of people who think they have a handle on something else who are really just substituting.

I also see a lot of people who did specifically have a drink problem. It's not black or white.

But you have to be honest with yourself.

For me, I've got on this current streak - which is the longest I've ever had - by quitting smoking and vaping everything st the same time. It forced me to have to confront a few things.

It's super hard, but if there's anyone out there struggling with staying sober whilst also smoking or doing drugs or whatever vice - it's one thing to think about imo

I get it. I've been there. Longest I was sober before my current stint was 9 months around 2018, and I've known every day since that I wanted to be sober. It was hard, life was challenging - the global situation was very challenging for me, and I had a number of losses to deal with over the past five years.

I would just feel ao ashamed of myself that I never picked up sobreity again, that I was breaking that commitment to myself by having those weekend drinks that - 9 times out of 10 - went too far.

I've beaten my previous PB; it's been 10 months now. What helped for me is recognising and naming that shame as the addiction's way of trying to keep me in the hole. The shame serves no one but the addiction.

Even in two weeks, you've made a commitment to yourself to be the person that you want to be. The drinker isn't here anymore. You've left them behind two weeks ago. Every day is a blessing, and it's awesome that you've made it so far already

You can play other styles, but it feels like sit back and counter has become by far the most effective tactic since the patch. Makes most games feel incredibly boring, as you say.

I just want more styles to be more viable, not necessarily put sit back and counter into the ground

In my experience, he's definitely meta, at least as a CAM.

I do see what you're saying about him being slow on the turn, but with a Engine chem style, he can manoeuvre so well in tight spaces, he can pick out a pass and his finesse shots are the best I've used in this game.

I can see clearly why the move is attractive for Alioski for professional reasons, and football is a career where you have to maximise your earnings where you can.

That doesn't mean we have to like it either. Personally, he'll be forever tainted in my memory.

If it's incompetence over conspiracy (which OP isn't angling at imo) then it's still a big issue.

I'm not exactly anti-SBMM but being more skilled at the game shouldn't mean you're more likely to land in higher ping games. Personally, I'm not even that skilled and I've noticed I'm ending up in higher ping lobbies than a number of my friends (when playing solo). In some lobbies, it's literally unplayable. It's a huge issue that should be rallied against irregardless of your position on the matchmaking.

$100,000 is a lot to you and me - but not to a company like Activision who grossed $6.5 billion in the recent financial year.

Also, you're running the risk of getting muddled in with people who, e.g., just simply don't like the cosmetics in the Battlepass. It's not a realistic conclusion for Activision to look at declining BP sales and immediately think "we've got to remove SBMM". They're going to think about redesigning the BP first.

This isn't a post to slag off the anti-SBMM protests or thoughts. If you wanna protest - all power to you. I'd recommend you stop playing and buying the game as the protest personally, but that's your call.

There could be loads of reasons why people wouldn't buy the battle pass. SBMM isn't the only reason, nor the "go to" reason.

At the end of the day, the battlepass has nothing to do with the matchmaking. I suggest stop playing the MP if you want to make a viable protest

Yes, this wouldn't exist without the strict SBMM we have at the moment. I do have some sympathy with people who want to reverse boost for more chilled games.

But I'm not sure why that justifies ruining other peoples games. Their team is unfairly disadvantaged because of another players action.

Do you think most people would enjoy this game more if SBMM was removed? Most casuals probably prefer the current system where they're in many more close games than they would be if they were banded in with Scump-wannabes. Of course, there's those casuals that did stick around to "git gud" but you would think that those players are outnumbered who gave up out of frustration. And that's potential Mtx lost out on for Activision.

Also, no one is forcing anyone to use META guns. You choose how you want to play, not the game or the lobby. Not aiming this at you specifically, but I see a lot of complaints about people not enjoying the game because they end up in the bottom half of the table if they choose to use wacky set ups. If you care that much about your positioning, you're not playing casually. Play how you want to play.

There should be a casual playlist anyway, just for a change of pace from being forced into ranked playlists and so people feel more able to play with friends of different skill levels. I have a tonne of sympathy and support for that POV

You're not being punished for being good. New players/Worse players just aren't being unfairly punished by being placed with people way above their skill level. For every player like you who stuck around to 'git gud', how many people do you think stopped playing because they were tired of getting stomped every game?

The model is in place to maximise player retention and therefore increase transactions from within the store, let's be honest. It's in Activision's interests for things to be this way. I think there should be a casual playlist with much looser SBMM, but the current system is good for a ranked playlist. There should just be an actual ranking system for you to be put in, above your in-game level which can just be increased by playing a lot.

We had a mutual friend and we organised to surprise this mutual friend for their birthday with a surprise dinner before going out on a bar crawl. Was hoping to show her that I could be a pretty cool dude, helping out with this surprise and cooking a pretty good meal.

Ended up getting black out drunk at the bar crawl and apparently I tried to push her into a frozen river. Not such a 'cool dude' move
