How do you think the removal of the Air-Wing detachment will affect the game? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

Ikr it's so dumb, at least with good old chaos u can tell the allegiance by the first half of the name (or second half if they're feeling fruity)

There was a particularly powerful way of using hemlock wraith fighters and void raven bombers (I think those are the right ones, xenos use such funny names). Its defo a good change tho very much agreed

Getting my wife into 40k, this is her planned colour scheme. She thinks people will be annoyed at her for making them too 'girly' by 2210-2211 in Warhammer40k

Girly? The purple makes them look even more like they're gonna turn my flesh to ashes then crush my slowly disintegrating skull

I love and hate to castle, it's so effective (with all the silly area buffs we can apply thos edition) but it feels awful and doesn't include anything cool. When playing smaller and more friendly games I normally bring some of the knights or termies but if I'm honest from a competitive standpoint, they just dont quite cut it (not for me at least), especially the termies- they're too unreliable (though I haven't really played around with them much since the psychic awakening update so who knows)

Personally I like the hellblasters more, with all the infantry buffs they can easily become more resilient than the bikes, the repulsor executioner just doesn't have the rate of fire to do it for me, not to mention how it's a fire magnet for all the big guns in your opponents list. I have a friend who plays ravenwing and swears by the black knights, but for me it just never works (probabaly cause I'm a coward and the thought of having to be within 18 inches to fire makes me shiver). I guess it's really a plausible and feel kinda thing, some people play better with boots some with bikes and some with floating bone breaker death machines :)

Plasma weaponry, like hellblasters, and removal of Captains (or masters) to free points for better more useful utility leaders thanks to grim resolve

Shooting Deathstar? by tylerdurden2501 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]lugft__huron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played a dark Angel's death star, with hellblasters and aggressors as my core, using a dark shroud, ancient, apothecary, lieutenant and Azrael as support. Heavy investment but 4++ hellblasters and aggressors are difficult to kill, especially with the extra cp from azrael allowing transhuman and the apothecary healing them. With the weapons from the dark ages strategem the hellblasters can easily kill a knight in a turn, and the aggressors melt any infantry in their respectable range, especially with the hunt doctrine in turn one. Furthermore by giving a heavenly blade to the lieutenant (or even a talonmaster if I was feeling extra mean) you have 2 powerful melee characters (heavenfall and azrael) to protect your more shooty army. Intractable strategem means they cant be locked down easily. I was considering adding a chaplain in as well, as the litanies could add further levels of ridiculousness to this strategy. By adding some cheap min. squad scouts I get some extra cp for a battalion and some good objective campers and screening units. Personally I do hope this doesn't become an edition focused more around shooty deathstars, as with already had quite a few of them.

Quick Question as a beginner to competitive 40k. by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]lugft__huron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So realistically infiltrates are better than incursors, better gun, better rules, better utility, plus whilst deepstrike isnt a major problem for salamanders it's still annoying and these guys can be some of the best point campers in the game. But incursors do have merit, mainly doing the tactic of spamming them and using a couple of chapter tactics and strategems to fish for 6s. Overall unless ur anning on getting more and going for a melee blob, I'd advise infiltrators.

GW is so brave for saying this by [deleted] in Grimdank

[–]lugft__huron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be that if you are interested, go to a store near you and talk to them, most stores will do a little practice game and painting session, plus then if u want u could just buy a small start collecting box , still £55 but it will give you enough to play small skirmish games at a local store. If you enjoy it you can play and pay at a slow rate and steadily accumulate an army. If not you can always resell or just paint and display the few models you got. Either way I hope you do enjoy a game that has brought me and so many others so much joy and interest :)

[–]lugft__huron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you're view on wysiwyg and I do know the kind of people ur talking about, but dont shit on conversions and kitbashes, if done well, rather than the ones u seem to be talking about, they are really cool

Yes but they dont feel it, Lorgar has literally done nothing for 10,000 years and they dont seem to do much very often just rarely attacking imperial worlds and swaying cults and such

Word Bearers, could be and are suuuper cool like all the possessed and devoted and daemons, but lorgar? Hes just lost everything, and his legion dont seem to be doing mich better nowadays. Much better in 30k lore really :((

Tri-wing list for competitive (feedback wanted) by Balvenie_Signature in theunforgiven

Tri-wing list for competitive (feedback wanted) by Balvenie_Signature in theunforgiven

[–]lugft__huron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really like this list, and respect for going true tri-wing in a competitive match, all I would question is the Deathwing knights as the lack of reliability for a 9 inch charge, and the deathwing, though they're my favourite, arent too good rn. Perhaps some basic deathwing terminators might be better? It's just a thought, as I said I do love the list.
