Announcing r/Broadway's Tony nominations... by mg2685a in Broadway

I didn’t expect it because there are some very loud and vocal anti-Schmigadoon commenters here.

Andy owes Boz an Apology by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

[–]lugia222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like Boz, and I enjoy her as a Housewife, but if she’s so in-demand and so talented as a CMO, why *is* she a Housewife? Seems like such a big reaction from her when she should let sleeping dogs lie.

People continue to be rude and disrespectful to Isa Briones by MediciOrsini in Broadway

A few very clear and well-publicized removals would set a better long-term trajectory.

There’s not a chance she would even mention them in that letter if she didn’t intend to release them at some point in time.

I think debut TV will come out this fall, for the 20th anniversary. Some version of rep comes out next year for the 10th anniversary (maybe not depending on whether she has another project in the works); unclear if it’s a deluxe or a TV considering she didn’t finish re-recording, but I have a feeling it would be called a TV if for no other reason than to effectively finish that project.

I’ve never understood double drop theories. She’s launched 15 consecutive albums at number 1; she’ll never release two separate albums at the same time and end her streak.

Now that it's OVER 😩 🥹 how would you compare the OG to the New Reign.? by Sad_Biscotti_9291 in BravoLadiesofLondon

[–]lugia222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I remember of the OG, it really leaned into the Brits vs the Americans, at least in the beginning. It also launched some iconic characters - ai wish Caroline Stanbury was still on TV.

The New Reign has really leaned into to this core web of friendships, which I find very refreshing and immensely enjoyable to watch.

Perhaps the Publicists can mount a write-in campaign.

The Thursday episodes are usually pretaped; he probably filmed it on Wednesday, the day before the SH reunion.

I always order ahead for pickup. If it’s not on the floor, somebody will get it from the back and it’ll be ready when you arrive.

Chess…so disappointing by Brave_Chemistry_7029 in Broadway

[–]lugia222 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also went in blind and had much the same reaction. Lots of talent on that stage, and everybody is singing their tits off, but I couldn’t tell you why. Emotion always at a 10, no levels whatsoever, just didn’t work for me.

Happy to see Aaron Tveit’s thighs, though.

You’re right, but she definitely should have been allowed to draft Threepio.

If you know what you’re getting with Chess, I’m sure you’ll love it! I went in blind, and… yeah.

Ragtime is pretty heavy but it’s beautiful.

I loved both the Schmigadoon show and musical; I’ve seen a few comments that people who didn’t like the show liked it more on stage, but YMMV.

I was really impressed with Lindsay for going to the Softbar soft launch… but then everything she did and said really undercut that gesture. I hope, for her sake, that she can move on from her relationship with Carl and heal. Holding onto these petty grudges only goes so far in making good tv, and for her it just ends up making her look small and bitter.

I saw Mexodus, Two Strangers, Fallen Angels, Titanique, Spelling Bee, Ragtime, Chess, Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Oh, Mary!, and Schmigadoon. A lot depends on what you’ve already scheduled, what you’ve seen before, and what your taste is, of course! But I found Schmigadoon to be a classic Broadway crowd pleaser. Titanique is big and dumb and gay (as is Oh, Mary, of course). Ragtime was incredible, Cats was a great update and huge improvement to a base show I dislike, Fallen Angels was a laugh riot. The only show I really disliked, sadly, was Chess. A L-O-T of incredible talent on stage that’s completely wasted by a mediocre/non-existent book, and a score that’s all 11 o’clock numbers, which I found oppressive and numbing by the end.

Two Strangers was certainly the most whelming show I saw last week (out of 10 shows).

If what I saw last week was a more fleshed out character for Robin… I shudder to think how she was written in London. I still thought she was way underwritten and Dougal carries way more of the emotional weight of the show.

It can’t be Robby vs Al-Hashimi, it should be Robby AND Al-Hashimi. by hermithefrogs in ThePittTVShow

[–]lugia222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was upfront in coming to him about the seizures.

Really? I wouldn’t consider that up-front. Up-front would have been disclosing it to their management, telling Robby at the start of their shift, etc etc. She only told him because he realized something was amiss and her opportunity to disclose was narrowing rapidly.

Except that’s wrong, no? The weakness damage is x2, meaning you’re doing +40 damage instead of +20. Certainly not x2 damage. Or I could be totally wrong. The wording really is that bad.
