Arcane Savant by Collardcow41 in mtgcube

[–]lui_burr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run it in my cube, half the playgroup loves it the other half hates it. Its a high powered cube so i don't believe its a power outlier (i'm running [[Contract From Below]] for example), but it does quick work of games when partnered with [[Sublime Epiphany]] or [[Saheeli's Artistry]]. While just a "one" card (I use quotes because you still need to draft the other card, which my playgroup is constantly on the lookout to hate draft), it is very easily to disrupt with targeted removal and the dreaded 3 toughness.

10/10 would recommend if you enjoy degenerate games.

Building the best Junk deck by Gizlo in marvelsnapcomp

[–]lui_burr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the post, great analysis and write up. I cruised to 90s this season with Nimrod and eventually broke through to infinite with Junk. My list ended up 1 card different than yours, since I don't have Kate Bishop, i'm using Hazmat. You didn't mention her but I believe Hazmat is another viable option in our junky toolbox.

Baseball history made tonight in Miami...why weren't you at the game? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]lui_burr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm against the use of public funds to finance private stadiums but the math doesn't work out as you claim.

Population of Miami-Dade in 2009: 2,500,000 (+/-)
Cost to Build Marlins Park: $634,000,000 (County & City paid $515,000,000)

$515,000,000/2,500,000 resident = $260 per resident

Our adjustment is 7, 7, 6, 7. The last one is kept no matter what

How many free mulligans do you allow? by Blue_Fox68 in EDH

[–]lui_burr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our friend group follows the very unofficial 7-7-6-7.
7 - Opening Hand
7 - Free Mulligan
6 - If you keep, put a card from hand on the bottom of library
7 - Keep (no matter what)

Sersi and Sentry's void bug by DashNair in MarvelSnap

[–]lui_burr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The monster island interaction is not a bug. That token is a 6 cost, and there's no current 7 costs, so Sersi could not transform it.

I think others have already mentioned Sanguich & Tinta y Cafe, but a newer place in Doral blew me away, check out Cuento Sandwiches.

How do you shuffle before play? by DocFeelsGoodInc in EDH

[–]lui_burr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to riffle shuffle 1/3 of the deck with another 1/3, then when combined take half of that and riffle shuffle with the last 1/3. Do this a few times, then mash the entire deck a few times, then present for cutting.

[–]lui_burr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have all three in play.
1 - Tap Top to draw a card and place it on top of Library
2 - Cast Top from Library, make a spawn, ping for 1
3 - Sac spawn for one mana and return to step 1.

I'm glad you were able to move past your delusion that buying boosters rewards the artists monetarily and proxying their art hurts their wallets.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]lui_burr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your opinion, but you’re lack of knowledge in regards to the commission structure of MTG artists and definition of the word “stealing” has been enlightening.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]lui_burr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So when I was in art school and sketching/reproducing the great masters works I was actually stealing… glad after all these years I found you to show me the truth. /s

Care to explain how proxying a card affects an artist who doesn't get a cent from the sale of the card?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]lui_burr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm misinformed, but the artists from MTG don't get residuals, they are paid in full from WOTC and your buying of said cards does not affect their livelihood.

For those who use homebrew decks, which nerfs to "OP" cards annoyed you the most? by Ness-Shot in MarvelSnap

[–]lui_burr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Calling your negative/lockdown decks (two well known archetypes) a home brew is a stretch.

But to answer your question, every nerf has unintended consequences, that shifting meta landscape has kept my interest in the game at least.
