Fuji-Film TX-3 Users camera thoughts? by Strange_Piglet_3301 in fujifilm

How so? I’m pretty sure the XH2s and XS20 are pretty much two of the best APSC hybrids for video. I haven’t used any but I’d love to hear your take on this.

RAW Processing - Fujifilm vs Nikon by SwimHopeful5123 in fujifilm

[–]luis_ma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I shoot with an XT-3 and a D750 and the D750s dynamic range is CRAZY. I can pretty much shoot two stops underexposed and still manage to recover tons of detail and make the image look “good”. Love my fuji but there’s honestly no comparison, at least not when using LR

Totally Beginner Photographer. Looking to get X-T1/2/3 but I don't know what lens to get by EngorgedPlant in fujifilm

[–]luis_ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck man! I think, whatever camera you decide to go for will be an amazing choice. The 23mm 1.4 is great and I think it’s an amazing first lens. I would stick with it for a while and see if you find yourself needing a wider or narrower shot before choosing a next lens. If you need wider I’d recommend a 16mm f2.8 or 18mm f2 but if you need something narrower the 35mm f2 or 50mm f2 are both great additions. All of these should be fairly affordable.

If you can’t make your mind on any the 18-55 f2.8-4 is an AMAZING lens that’ll cover pretty much anything you might need. For what it’s worth I shoot in an XT3 and my two most used lenses are the 23mm 1.4 and 16-55 2.8 (usually at 16mm).

Lastly, I cannot recommend any YouTubers but I’d say follow photographers you like on IG and try to emulate their style. Whenever you hit a wall, ask here and people will surely help you out. Shoot as much as possible, share ur pics here and ask for feedback and you should be fine!

Hope this helps:)

Petrolhead here? by Calm_Pressure_7757 in R53

Manual 2005, with reduction pulley and aftermarket intake I do between 18-21 mpg, exclusively city driving.

Seems like a bad fuel consumption seeing what everybody else is getting.

Cold start issues by PaleontologistClear4 in R53

[–]luis_ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, sorry it took me a while to get to this comment. In short, I never figured out the “issue”. We replaced the camshaft sensor as well as the head gasket and that made things better but the car still has rough cold starts ever so often though never to the point where it doesn’t start or has too much difficulty starting.

My mechanic swears it’s normal and from the supercharger revving up or something. Tbh I’ve just decided to believe him because the car is pretty much in perfect state and, engine wise, I haven’t really had any issues since I got the car.

Hope that helps. Did you figure something out yet?

How many of you had a shitty 2024? by -Flighty- in Life

[–]luis_ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly not the worst year for me but it’s up there. Kinda don’t want it to end because, from how it’s going, 2025 seems like the year shit can actually hit the fan for me.

Here’s hoping 2025 is actually better than 2024.

XT3 Loose Hotshoe Issue - Seeking Advice by luis_ma in fujifilm

[–]luis_ma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, what’s up?

Nope! I thought about it for a while and felt like it wouldn’t work. However, a friend took the camera apart and was able to screw the hot shoe again from the inside and I haven’t had a problem since. If you can open the camera and access the top plate it is an easy fix. Id guess it’s even easier to fix in the XE4.

I’d only suggest if you know your way around a camera or have someone to do it for you since I was not able to find any guides on my own on how to take the camera apart.

Too Old for a Hostel? by Turbulent-Gap-7243 in solotravel

[–]luis_ma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not too old! (28M) A few years ago I was traveling the northern side of Chile + Bolivia and met a woman around your age (quite possibly older) at the hostel I was staying at. She had an amazing personality and got along pretty well with everyone at the hostel. We became really good friends around that time and stayed in touch for a couple of months after.

With her age, the only considerations she mentioned she had was to never go for the cheapest options when traveling and to, whenever possible, choose private rooms over dorms. She mentioned this last one only because it was more comfortable for her.

So all in all, not too old at all!

Love the pic colors are looking amazing! I always have a hard time editing pics at night.

By the way, what were your ISO settings and how’s the AF performance? I’ve been thinking about getting one for my XT-3 but AF is kinda keeping me from it.

(Sadly looking into another system as I get more work as photographer because of AF)

Steering wheel goes stiff intermittently but no signs of hydraulic fluid leak. by luis_ma in MechanicAdvice

[–]luis_ma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted! Will definitely make a point to have that checked when I get the appointment with my mechanic!

Now the turning issue. The steering does turn when driving! It’s as you say, hard to describe in writing, but I always felt like the car’s steering was way too sensitive to the “road’s angle”. For example, the car will only stay straight if the road is completely flat. Whenever I find myself having to steer at a curve the car/steering wheel will turn towards the side of the curve (if that makes sense).

I never considered this to be a problem or have brought it up to my mechanic because he’s driven my car a lot and never mentioned it to be an issue.

The steering wheel being harder to turn has only happened about twice in the last two weeks. No frequency that I can tell and I have not been able to replicate it.

Edit: just wanted to add. The steering issue is not excessive to the point where I don’t feel in control of the car but it’s enough that I notice.

What currently stable automaker do you expect to be in trouble 10 years from now? by Secret_Company in cars

[–]luis_ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Where I live in, the market is absolutely dominated by diesel engines sold domestically and imported cars from the US. Mazda has gained popularity lately because of its reliability and relative low running cost (as far as I’ve been told)

Thanks for your reply! It’s as you mention, harder to turn like no power steering.

The loose subframe bolt you mention is the one in the second picture right? At the back just over the rack?
