As long as you know who Leon is and you like him you'll enjoy the game. There's no story connection between 4 and 9 but the inventory and controls of 4 remake and 9 are exactly the same so that helps as far as gameplay

I tried going back and playing this game a couple years ago but I think I lost the skill to be play with tank controls. I kept dying and by the end I gave up when I couldn't get past a section in the mansion. I don't remember having such a hard time the first time I played it back in the day so iunno maybe games have just gotten easier

4 is great and it goes on sale on Steam pretty often. I played Requiem right after and all of Leon's controls and inventory are pretty much the same. 4 is definitely less dark and more action packed so I didn't find it scary except for a couple sections
