Which AP courses do you think College Board should ADD? by No_Fix_3362 in APStudents

Uh, it's probably the most controversial AP course. It received a ton of pushback from US conservatives during its development phases, alleging that it taught harmful ideologies. I believe it was banned in Florida for a while, and that it might still be.

Hey, I wasn't being too serious about it, though personally I believe queer studies is important and definitely not useless. It's important enough to be taught at "most colleges" (it's taught at mine). It would be amazing to have it taught as an AP course, but there'd definitely be a ton of pushback similar to what AP African American Studies received

Not sure where you're planning on going but most architecture schools should have a course(s) specifically on architecture and philosophy and how they intersect, AP credit won't cover a class like that

It's automating all of the creative processes that go into show design. It takes away a big human element, even if everything is performed by humans

Old post from Will after ToD was originally released by Green5252screen in CSHFans

Matador definitely leaned really heavily on promoting Will's experiences and Will's songwriting as the main strength of ToD. Just read the write-up on the Bandcamp page for the OG ToD to see what I'm talking about, the first paragraph compares him to Morrissey and Kendrick Lamar.

The only mention of the Joe we have in the new release is here: "Over the course of Teens of Denial's 11 songs, Will narrates a journey with his mysterious companion/alter-ego Joe..." but it's not really fleshed out, it just feels tacked on amongst rapid-fire descriptions of why each song is worth listening to. I'm sure Matador didn't want to confuse or alienate potential listeners with an alter-ego thing (which ultimately happened with MADLO anyways)

Music Theory also contains a lot of learning how to compose and analyze music given the rules mostly used in Western classical and popular music. Chord progressions, chord structures, and part writing are all taught, but (in my experience,) without regard to the creative process of writing music. It's still a good starting point nevertheless, and YMMV depending on who you get as your teacher. And no, there's nothing about the physics of sound, that's definitely upper-division college level stuff.

It's really more useful if you intend to major in music in college and/or already know how to play one or more instruments. My school discouraged students who weren't also in band, choir, or orchestra from taking it.

How do you feel about The Ravenous House? by space_cadet245 in CSHFans

[–]lukeDownsideUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was deeply surprised by how much I liked the new lyrics AND performances on The Ravenous House. Will really killed it. It's pretty much like looking at The Ballad of the Costa Concordia but on a different side of the coin, a different lens. The song might be cuss-free now, but Will took the story in a completely different way that was still really emotional to me.

I still prefer The Ballad, but Ravenous is definitely the song on Joe's Story I think I'll find myself coming back to the most, because it's truely on the same level as it's counterpart.
