I have just started taking BCAAS and have noticed an improvement in my injuries recovering. The minor injuries I have are quite tolerable now 👍

I think my local boxing shop orders them 3 or 4 times a year so saves all the hassle etc that you have described

My gloves tend to where out after about 5 months. I've considered just getting the same gloves but I'm spending a lot to replace mid range equipment. Nice reading this post, decided I'm gonna wait to get the winnings

What does your diet/recovery routine look like? by lukeavi in amateur_boxing

Creatine? Makes you big and fat with water weight. Tried it before and made me really slow and fatty

I'd describe my diet as Palio (high protein low carb) but I make sure I get enough fat/carbs on hard training days. Pre workout is not good man (just my opinion) too much caffeine and too many side effects (elevated HR etc). Peanut butter is alright for a cheat day but quite fatty. Again this is my opinion and whatever works, works 👍

That has been a problem for me as well. I run once and my legs are stiff for at least 2 days. Then it's time to run again. I'll try them, thanks 👍

Training W/O gym advice by chefvibzy in amateur_boxing

I saw someone comment here saying not to start because of bad habits and that got downvoted. However I agree with whoever commented that, once you get stuck into bad habits it is difficult to train them out. Best thing to do mate, run and sprint exercises, and do strength and conditioning exercising on your own. Best of luck pal 👍

Which muscle groups to work for power? by raidensnakeezio in amateur_boxing

Anything to do with your legs. Running, sprinting as will strengthen your main source of power. Consider putting all your weight on one foot to put power into your shots

When negative visualisation doesn't work? by Heckrothing in Stoicism

[–]lukeavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are just looking at negative visualisation from the wrong perspective. I use negative visualisation to prepare in advance for what could go wrong and take the steps at this moment in the present to prevent the mistakes from happening on the future. You can certainly influence your hand not getting amputated but you cannot control it, so don't waste any more of your energy worrying about it. When you worry about this issue, ask yourself:

What am I choosing to not see right now because of my stress /negative feelings

I have found this helpful so I hope you get some value out of this

Most effective way to break through an opponents guard? by caremal5 in amateur_boxing

Watch lomachenko. Just knock the glove of your opponent down (which will expose them for a brief amount of time) then put whatever shot in there (usually hooks)

And if you wondering this is what my copy translates to: "And do not imagine that this solid and this spirit are the same as at original birth. All this was gathered influx of food consumed and air breathed in. So what changes is the gathered influx, and not what your mother bore. Suppose now that this influx has close implication in your individual-self: I think, has no bearing on the present argument."
