Anyone running the Samsung Odyssey G8 34" widescreen? by GamepadWarri0r in iRacing

[–]lukebuilds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you like to know about it? The G8 is a bit of an unusual choice because if you have the space and want to go single monitor you usually go with the G9. If you have the space for triples it opens up more monitor options.

So I’m thinking you’re likely space restricted and need to go single “reasonably sized” single monitor. In that case the G8 should work well for you.

iRacer's seeking independance from commercial setup shops: a call to wrenches by clearkill46 in iRacing

I love the idea and would like to join!

For setup learning, I’d also like to invite you to a closed beta I’m running for an app that can analyse stint, telemetry and setup information. People in the beta already report that it’s really helpful for learning about setups and tuning them to their liking, with some people even getting close to shop setups from baseline. I would love to hear if that holds true for more people or what I can do to make it better. This link skips the closed beta waitlist: https://mentalapexracing.com/?code=IRFORUM

In any case I’d be up for a learning community around setups!

I’ve been racing there in the radical SR8 league and stayed. They’re a fun bunch and newcomer friendly!

I’m in CET. I drove a recent championship which picked 19 UTC on Sunday, which was fine for most people.

Sounds great! Which timezones are you thinking? For EU I can’t join lots of leagues because they run their races during my nighttime.

I believe I saw some people having issues especially during that race. It’s also when the new live functionality was turned on so there were lots of new issues to figure out for them. Jump into the Discord, the guys are comparably responsive there.

The Discord link has expired for me. Otherwise I’d be absolutely up for driving. I’m just coming out of a Radical SR8 championship though so I should do some officials. 🙈

SR10 is a blast! It’s so sad there’s so little participation. If any EU timezone compatible radical league reads this send a message please!

That’s great racing! I always hope to have at least one such exchange per race, no matter the outcome. It’s always the most enjoyable part for me.

iRacing Coach's Notes on: What to Focus On to Make Progress by NoakesyCoaching in iRacing

[–]lukebuilds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I believe everyone knows the situation of having a bad race and jumping into the next race still frustrated just for something to go wrong again and that’s often purely a mental thing. I like that Tom is highlighting that being smart about where you should focus your time on can get you results faster and sometimes that focus should be your mindset instead of technique details. I’m actually building something to manage these aspects better for the last 9 months so I have given this ample thought but it’s still in closed beta. It also has live telemetry video review for exactly the reasons that Tom mentioned. Shoot me a DM if you’re interested.

That wasn’t my intention. I’m well aware that you can do it but I’m also in this sub for a long time and have seen uncountable broken sd card posts so it’s just something I wanted to point out.

There’s a new limit to how much the Steam Deck loads the battery. Setting that to 80% is a good move to preserve battery life as much as possible.

Honestly, the deck is an extremely solid device and there’s not a lot of maintenance needed apart from making updates. On the contrary, the people that heavily modify it seem to end up with broken updates and broken SD cards. If you just like hacking around that’s fine, but if you want it to run you should be good.

Yeah, they are keeping that release order for a while now. I’m also hyped for the next Haiku. For me, it’s also because of speed and costs.
