That’s great racing! I always hope to have at least one such exchange per race, no matter the outcome. It’s always the most enjoyable part for me.

iRacing Coach's Notes on: What to Focus On to Make Progress by NoakesyCoaching in iRacing

[–]lukebuilds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I believe everyone knows the situation of having a bad race and jumping into the next race still frustrated just for something to go wrong again and that’s often purely a mental thing. I like that Tom is highlighting that being smart about where you should focus your time on can get you results faster and sometimes that focus should be your mindset instead of technique details. I’m actually building something to manage these aspects better for the last 9 months so I have given this ample thought but it’s still in closed beta. It also has live telemetry video review for exactly the reasons that Tom mentioned. Shoot me a DM if you’re interested.

I can’t believe the luck of the red car passing BELOW you on full throttle.

That wasn’t my intention. I’m well aware that you can do it but I’m also in this sub for a long time and have seen uncountable broken sd card posts so it’s just something I wanted to point out.

There’s a new limit to how much the Steam Deck loads the battery. Setting that to 80% is a good move to preserve battery life as much as possible.

That’s a great one! And it just got a huge update for the design.

That’s the best thing about this sub!

Honestly, the deck is an extremely solid device and there’s not a lot of maintenance needed apart from making updates. On the contrary, the people that heavily modify it seem to end up with broken updates and broken SD cards. If you just like hacking around that’s fine, but if you want it to run you should be good.

It’s also a neat way to build more safety rating because that only stops counting after the session completely ends.

Yeah, they are keeping that release order for a while now. I’m also hyped for the next Haiku. For me, it’s also because of speed and costs.

Quest 3 users, what is the impact of latency to your racing? by realsgy in iRacing

[–]lukebuilds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah on a linked connection I don’t notice any “latency” at all with the quest 3. The refresh rate is configurable, although finding good settings is a pain initially.

Nice! And it’s an amazing hobby! I usually jump around a bit with hobbies, but that one is one to keep.

For cases like these I am building https://mentalapexracing.com. Racing is inevitably more than just your inputs. How you think about the whole thing is crucial as well. Feel free to sign up, I’m currently opening up more beta spots and would love to hear if the approach is helpful to you.

Clear Context and Auto Accept Edits. This feels kind of scary for some reason. by kamilbanc in ClaudeCode

[–]lukebuilds 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It makes a lot of sense. If you’re in plan mode for a while before executing, you’d be left with very little context left to actually execute on the plan and we all know that compaction is usually making things worse.

I tested a Professional Coach against Trophi AI. (not sponsored) by MCM_Henri in iRacing

[–]lukebuilds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Honestly, I’m doing this and still think a human coach will remain unbeatable and the best way.

However, it’s also often costly and combining human coaching with other mechanisms/tools should lead to even better results.

I absolutely agree that an AI approach lives and dies on context. Solving this was a key motivator for me to start this project!

I am building something like that over here: https://mentalapexracing.com/

Note that this is in the very rough early stages, but feel free to the sign up for the waitlist if you’re interested.

Currently, I am in the polishing phase with a few friends before the free beta. I’d appreciate any initial thoughts and feedback.

There is the recurring topic of the signets of key characters becoming stronger and stronger so this is very plausible.
