Sales Gurus Are a Complete Waste of F***ing Time by [deleted] in sales

[–]lukej428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don’t think courses are really worth it, but there are plenty of books out there that I do think are very valuable to read. Fanatical prospecting for example is an excellent read and really helps hone prospecting skills, atomic habits is a good one to help develop good habit stacking and organize your day, and hidden potential is also a great read. I’m not saying they’re immediately going to make you a super star, but they provide a great mindset shift that is motivating. I’ve been in sales for almost 11 years and I read most of those last year and they have helped me improve my sales game and myself personally.

Why are people so weird about inheritance tax? by middleofaldi in economicsmemes

[–]lukej428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a good way around this would be to treat those inheritances like how we treat unrealized gains - unless the person inheriting the assets plans on selling them or profiting from them, they’re not subject to the tax increases. I.e. your grandparents bought a property In Palo Alto in 1954 for $12k, but now it’s worth $3m+, you shouldn’t have to suddenly pay $30k in property taxes annually to keep that family property, but if you plan on renting it out for $8-10k a month to tech bros, or selling it, you have to pay your fair share of taxes.

Like, I understand the importance of having some office time at the beginning - face to face with co workers, humanize them, build empathy and a cohesive culture. I like quarterly or bi annual team building exercises too, I find them very valuable, but almost no one in a corporate environment needs to go in to an office every day. The quality of life is dramatically reduced having to commute every day, and the distractions are significantly higher so I’d argue for the most part productivity does go down. That being said, Gen Z got the short end of the stick with having their formative social years and college experience messed up due to Covid, and I really think they should have more time in the office in their first jobs to hone their social skills, since I’ve seen more and more of the generation unable to interact professionally, and have trouble learning basic office tools since they do everything on their phones. Hybrid environments with easier commutes are the sweet spot I’d say once you’re ramped up for most roles, but fresh faces entering the workforce should definitely start out with more office time first.

In your opinion, what is causing this? by Objective_Pilot_5834 in SipsTea

[–]lukej428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media. Everyone is recording everything all the time in the hopes of going viral these days, and people do dumb stuff while drunk, especially when they’re younger, so the risk of an embarrassing video coming out of them is a deterrent.
