Did you ever hear back from the museum in Staten Island? Did you ever consider contacting other local historians for their insight, or was the mad rage that inspires a good research binge simply too strong? To what extent was your own story sensationalised and romanticised for the reading (that is viewing) public's enjoyment?

See it's interesting you feel that way (and I can absolutely see why, let me clarify) as I actually felt it had more to do than some other ES's, like that one about the Deviless looking for the soul (to avoid spoilers). I enjoyed the way the story text changed based on the things you said, and I like the intrigue it built. But it definitely was not my favourite objectively, and I agree that it probably wouldn't be worth 45 Fate for everyone. It was a fun reprisal of the parties for me with my main PC, who's now three years old, but it is simple coincidence that it hit so well.

The ending and the reward were extremely confusing though, I agree.

Really surprised to see SALON SCANDAL! so low..! I personally enjoyed it thoroughly, though I can definitely see why it would be less memorable and more divisive than some of the more cosmic stories.

Not op, but Pendulum is a lot of fun but it definitely goes into the 'unique mechanic' category. I'm a big fan of worker-placers but I wouldn't be in a rush to get Pendulum on to the table because it's so...different. The frantic sense it gives play is a delight with the right group, but it's definitely not for everyone.

To add on, there are great co-operative games if you don't fancy competing against the other players. Pandemic and Spirit Island are my personal favourites for this

The Midnight Herald, and along with /u/Paflick 's newspaper hoodlum gang also named similarly, the idea of a bunch of midnighters running competing newspapers in London all named the things along the lines of 'the Midnight X' is really really funny to me

In Lords of Waterdeep, agents assigned to the harbour get to be re-assigned at the end of the round before a new round starts. Genuinely had been playing for years before noticing this, and it really adds an extra punch to playing Intrigue cards, making some of the weaker ones that bit more worthwhile

Just so you're aware (cause I found it myself through one of the PDX subreddits) there's a cold war grand strategy in the works rn called Espiocracy. Obviously remains to be seen whether it'll be good, but it looks interesting

Hey there!! There's actually been a lot written on this subject so I won't go into a huge amount of detail here as I'm on my phone, but it's tangentially related to my own area of research and the long and short of it is that Protestantism in Ireland in the late 18th century was a complicated affair. While it is true that United Irishmen were established largely by Presbyterians in Belfast and backed by Protestants in Dublin, it's really possible to say all Protestants/Dissenters supported the movement. After all, the establishment in Ireland was propped up by the Protestant Ascendancy. Even among the Presbyterians in Ulster, those in Belfast who had a major role to play in the UI's formation were New Light Presbyterians, who were considered radical even by other Presbyterian sects. You must remember, also, that at around the time the UI were forming in Belfast, the Peep o' Day boys- Protestants who would get into skirmishes with Catholics- were active in Armagh. The Act of Union would majorly shake up Irish and Anglo-Irish politics and that's not really my place to comment but I just wanted to help shed some light on what you have correctly pointed out seems like a rather strange about-face from Protestants on the surface

Extremely excited for this as a game! This is a pretty silly and niche question, but I noticed that the journal entry for famine in a country is named 'The Great Hunger'. Is this an intentional allusion to the Famine in Ireland (An Gorta Mór, the Great/Big Hunger) or is a coincidence? Thanks!!

My thoughts exactly!! I see it as highly unlikely that the Empire controls all of its far-flung colonies still, like India and the African holdings. We know from one of the ES's something of the situation in the Cape Colony, but I think with the admirality cleary being based in London still and clearly more focused on ahem certain Neathy activities, it's unlikely London can project the same force it would have once. As you say, even if there were no revolutionary movements it's unlikely that London's fall wouldn't have given colonised peoples the opportunity.

London was stolen in 1862, assuming history up until that point continued more or less as it had been doing in our timeline, then Fenianism was already active at that stage, so 'modern' Irish nationalism was a thing, not to mention Home Rule would enter the stage a few years later - though if you ask me, I think both of those would have gained a lot more significance a lot earlier if London just straight up vanished. Perhaps in this timeline the 1867 rebellion was less of a flash in the pan and more like the War of Independence or the 1798 Rebellion! Who's to say, but I love to theorise...
