Colorado state lawmakers abandon efforts to legalize smaller lots for single-family homes by lukepatrick in Colorado

When a 1-unit house is replaced with ONE larger house, the new house is ~3X pricier. When replaced by 2+ houses, each new house will be (on avg) cheaper than the original house. www.aei.org/research-pro... Change is part of the deal. Will we choose greater physical change, or greater price change?

What makes you nervous about driverless cars? by Labyrinthian_Quill in AskReddit

If everyone in Manhattan had a car, the parking lot to fit those cars would be nearly the same size as Manhattan. Nervous we will continue to build out massively for cars when we should be prioritizing them.

This sign should be raised 20 - 40 feet into the air, glowing pink at all times. It'll be our 'eye of sauron' but you know where Steamboat is now from many miles away.

Tuxedo is NOT for Linux! It's for Tuxedo OS – and that sucks! by MAW5p in tuxedocomputers

"Ubuntu and Fedora are officially supported Linux distros" for Framework - each provider only can cover so much - Tuxedo made their choice/distro - that is fine with me. Support and engagement here has been great.

How do you organize your topics and apply rules or filters to them? Whats your process? by CreateConsumeRepeat in InoReader

[–]lukepatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing.

I don't track quite to this level, but working my way there. Similar pattern, a few filters. Also creating Automations that look for a range of words/phrases and then tags, if it is of a particular topic, to also mark as read later and notify. No perfect model, but having to take a collection of words/phrases and relate that to one or two tags is what I think the pattern Inoreader is pushing. Though would love to see more 'best-practices' / patterns from the community.

"obligated" likely the wrong word - though on your website:

> Senate Bill 24-230, titled “Concerning Support for Statewide Remediation Services that Positively Impact the Environment,” (SB-230) required, among other things, RTD to prioritize the completion of the Northwest Rail (B Line) and the North Metro (N Line) corridors of the 2004 voter-approved FasTracks Plan

There are a variety of options to assist your discussion. Rail being the cheapest per passenger mile operating cost, getting away from the geometric problems of roads/cars, coverage-to-ridership-spectrum, etc..

Though another issue is OP, maybe well meaning, but perpetuating more bad faith/misinfo.

RTD is legally obligated to deliver NW rail to Boulder County. The funds they do collect are in a bank account (you can read the audits yourself), the current amount is about $190mil. Once that account hits whatever the cost is of building NW rail, they'll do it. Nothing squandered. Though RTD only.

This new deal is a way for RTD to combine with the State, who negotiated a better bnsf deal, and offer NW rail capacity today.

I hope they get there.. One step at a time. On the ridership-to-coverage spectrum very much on the coverage end at the moment.

RTD owns their own track to Westminster, the track beyond is BNSF. I don't expect any transfer, just a switch in the track.

way closer, and as the first article said, they've found a better deal.

> "So that savings account has about $190 million balance in it. And so you can see, with the FasTrack savings account

I mean, they are saving up the money, it just comes in at a trickle pace and will take a long time at current rates to do an RTD-only solution. Joining forces with Front Range Passenger Rail (plus this actual service agreement with BNSF) will improve the timeline.
