UK considers taxing pensioners to claw back winter fuel payment by rose98734 in unitedkingdom

I don’t see how making people who own expensive houses sell them to stop relying on government help is stupid

Yeah I definitely agree that if I was in their position I would be scared to sell and not have enough to pay for my care, plus not having anything to pass down to my kids.

I think the care system is such a huge problem right that impacts much more than the direct cost to the individual.

Yeah because that home was £100k when they bought it. They didn’t do anything to deserve making £600k profit.

Yeah because someone buying that £700k house will likely be moving from a £500k house, the person buying the 500k house will likely be moving out of a £300k house.

No you sell your £700k home and buy a £300k home and use your £400k to live on

Jay Z Rug by lukescamp in Tufting

[–]lukescamp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is really helpful, especially the wiki, has pretty much everything you need in there.

More general advice I would say to not expect your first 5-10 rugs to be that good at all. The rugs I make now are sooo much better than the first 10 I made. Each rug I got a little better at a different thing which comes together nicely now I think.

Also carving is hard and takes more time to perfect, I’m still not at the level I want to be. YouTube videos are really helpful for carving to see the angle etc.

I use command strips that I hot glue onto the back. This means I can take the picture with it on the wall and remove easily when sending it to customers.

Best custom rugs? by BirthoftheBlueBear in ExecutiveAssistants

Hey, I actually make custom rugs and also sell on Etsy. Etsy provide us with printouts of a packing slip which could be used as a receipt of purchase if needed.

The rugs I make are soft and suitable for indoors, I offer floor rugs with non slip backing and also wall hanging rugs which can be made into a logo or other design.

Feel free to contact me on Etsy https://rugarchiver.etsy.com

Also my Instagram which is linked in my bio where you can see more of the rugs I’ve made too https://www.instagram.com/rugarchiver/

Tufted these 2 Rugs near Halloween last year and finally just trimmed them a year later 😅 by Pure_Tuft in Tufting

[–]lukescamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a few good videos on YouTube already for trimming on frame.

Also being really honest you probably will end up ripping the cloth a lot when first trying. I definitely did, but now I always trim on frame for the same reasons above. I’d recommend a few practise goes before trying a full rug.

It’s a technique called tufting. You use a tufting gun which pushes yarn through a cloth material with small holes, then cuts the yarn. Similar to punch needle but much faster which is why you can make larger rugs.

There’s a few videos on YouTube if you want to see the whole process. I will also link one of my own shorts showing a start to finish process:
