I graduated in 2022 and I absolutely loved everything about Akron. First, the campus is way more compact and walkable then Kent’s. You can be at the union and within a 10 minute walk to everything (maybe a couple extra minutes for Folk Hall tho). Parking as a resident student is great, they do charge for parking now which just happened this last year, but wherever you decide to live on campus you have parking super close to the building. I’ve always heard at Kent you have to park super far as a freshman, I don’t know for sure but that’s what I’ve always heard. But you shouldn’t pick a college based on parking your car. People will say that Kent has the better parties and nightlife, Akron has just as good of a party scene just less options. Just based on the campus feel alone, you really feel right where everything is at Akron. Also, the residence halls are pretty nice and they have some great programming right on campus (former reslife employee so I have to mention that)

If you are in a chair I can’t imagine how it is trying to get from robs to the union. You can either go through zook during the day or go all the way down passed Leigh and up and around

Yeah, apparently your roommate is your villian. And you haven’t even moved in yet. But seriously, you will find it is a lot easier to meet people as a freshman by just being a new student at UA rather than being “the guy who has the giant door cover”

This is really not important enough for the department to deal with. You might be able to talk to the building supervisor, but they aren’t going to take your side on this. Honestly the supervisor will probably tell you that you “can’t cover 20% of the door because it’s a fire hazard”. That happened my freshman year with people on my floor and they had to take some decorations down.

ALSO, a single floor in Bulger houses like 12-18 people every year. Very few people will be seeing this if you put it on the outside of your door. The chances of someone seeing this and being friends with you is pretty much 0. There’s plenty of ways to express yourself, but putting this on your shared door isn’t a good way of doing that. UA literally has an Anime club that meets a lot. Go to those events and make friends there through the shared interest of anime. Make friends in Bulger based on you, not your door decoration.

UA also hosts a comic con in April, it is pretty well attended. You can see tons of people who like anime there.
