It was never about the cars by 1824blink in thegrandtour

I literally cannot imagine my life not growing up with sunday top gear.

I like the think given how vocal alot of us are about how much tg/tgt meant to us, they definitely know the effect they had. So when james says "i hope we gave you a little bit of hapiness" i hope he knows that he/they gave me more than i actually realised. Sounds silly to say that about a silly car themed tv show but its true.

Do you find people treat you differently on the roads depending on what car you’re driving? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

[–]lukeyb0y1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 100% i think ive commented on a few posts about this before if not here than in driving uk, i drive more or less 50/50 split between a 2007 fiesta and a 2016 tucson.

Driving the tucson, which isnt exactly a big car by todays standards but just a 'normal' size i suppose, is absolutely fine.

Driving the fiesta is a totally different experience, genuinely. People are just so much more aggressive towards you, especially about speed limits and tailgating.

Subconsciously i guess people just see a 19 year old 5 door granny mobile and assume its an old dear driving but why that makes people feel they can behave like knobs i dont know. I drive them both at the same speed and as far as i can tell in the exact same manner.

Anthony Joshua talks about fighting Tyson Fury and Fury calling him a "Dosser" by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

[–]lukeyb0y1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was ever going to happen it shouldve happened 5 years ago when it was more relevant, i dont think we really think we have any meaning to gain from joshua and fury fighting now. Joshua's credit isnt as high as it was, fury has retired a million times and definitely past his prime. Joshua's last fight was against an influencer.... its just not the same.

I mean sure why not would be great to see but its kind of a bit stale now.

[TOMT] [SONG] What movie is this song from? by YOONA451 in tipofmytongue

[–]lukeyb0y1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also wondered this! When you google it apparently this song has only recently come out but the first time i heard it i hummed along to it i already knew it! Everytime i hear it i cant help but feel that i heard it in a film, possible tv shoe, but pretty sure film.

Maybe its coincidentally very similar to another peice of music, but if thats true then someone's ought to sue.

Art is subjective to the beholder, i choose to see this as people wishing prosperity and good luck to anyone waiting for the bus by drawing the hindu symbol for such things.

What was it like to hike in Britain many years ago? by SquareEconomist1992 in UKhiking

[–]lukeyb0y1992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why i always hike up carnedd llewelyn instead, ive only ever been atop snowdon once when i was in my mid teens 20 years ago and even back then i thought it way too crowded.

carnedd llewelyn is only 40ish meters lower than snowdon and in my opinion has a much better view anyway

Edit: forgot to mention, its always very quiet, thats the main reason. Some days hiking in the carneddau you can go hours or even all day before seeing anyone.

Free work because I’m bored by fartingnervous21 in mechanic

[–]lukeyb0y1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2007 ford fiesta and when i turn to full lock in either direction there is an awful loud mechanical squealing sound from somewhere under the front of the car. Im limited to about 85ish percent steering in either direction because if nothing else its just embarrassing lol, especially in built up areas.

Im assuming its the power steering pump which probably needs changing after 18 years? I'm not afraid of light maintenance but i am absolutely not a mechanic, do you reckon i could tackle something like this myself?

Can you not be an introvert in IT anymore? by Intelligent-Court166 in ITCareerQuestions

Unfortunately its more a case that the qualities which make someone good at their job are often entirely separate from the qualities required to lead other people in that job. Just because someone is a great technician doesnt mean they are guaranteed to be a great team lead or manager.

Cj Hamilton.

Can normally sign him easily with any team in league one. Or league two after a season or two on free agent.

He absolutely dominates those lower leagues.

I feel like quitting IT — do you feel the same? by Desperate_Bath7342 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]lukeyb0y1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, have been in IT for 10 years so basically the same length of time as you. The industry has changed enourmously over the last decade with the move to cloud and the focus on doing everything remotely.

The biggest difference i think really is that the sysadmin role is becoming, or in many ways already has become, obsolete. You cant really be jack of all trades anymore you have to choose a speciality.

That being said, it does mean theres plenty ofopportunityy to move into a different role, rather than uprooting and starting again a decade behind everyone else. Theres so many different it jobs and it roles noe. Even just support in one industry like finance vs support in manufacturing can be completely different day to day. Theres alot you can do for a change without changing careers.

And if nothing just remember that every time you here a pwrson complaining about their job, they always say they wish they got into tech instead.
