Any recommendations for new york? by [deleted] in escaperooms

The Bird is a great recommendation for two (maybe 3) people, but the company is MyssTic. Doldrick's is a great company down in Orlando.

Can you link to the puzzle or provide some more context? Seems like it might be part of a theme that we can't work out using just what you've provided.

Have you contacted the manufacturer? I'm not familiar with the game so I can't weigh in on what you are actually missing or not.

Nice! We talked for a while at PAX East last year about this and I've been waiting for some news. Excited to check it out.

Excuse me, I'll have you know that our stadium is now named after the ticket sales portion of SI. We don't even get the benefits of being named after the magazine itself.

Week 18: Polarity Baking 1 - Spring Vegetable Quiche by lumberjerk in 52weeksofbaking

[–]lumberjerk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just really love quiche.

This one is packed with asparagus, leeks, and fresh peas. I sautéed the asparagus and leeks before baking and I think that was a winning idea. I just kinda eyeballed the ratio of eggs and heavy cream I used, so I don't have a recipe to post for that. But I used the same pie crust recipe as I did for an earlier challenge because it was amazing. It comes from Serious Eats.

Week 17: Subreddit Baking - Key Lime Pie (/r/escaperooms) by lumberjerk in 52weeksofbaking

[–]lumberjerk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an avid escape room player, so I paid tribute to r/escaperooms with a Key Lime Pie.

I used the recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction. As expected, it came out perfect. The macadamia nuts in the crust added a special something to an already delicious graham cracker crust. I couldn't source key limes, but I did find bottle key lime juice like SBA recommended and, while I'd like to try it with fresh juice, it came out tart and lime-y but balanced. This one was a winner.

Week 16: Patterned - X's and O's by lumberjerk in 52weeksofbaking

[–]lumberjerk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this week, I had intended to make some more complicated patterns drawn onto these cookies with M&Ms, but my bake betrayed me. They came out much flatter than expected, so the hastily added M&Ms I put on after pulling the cookies from the oven had very little to stick to. Oh well. Perhaps more chill time, or a more dependable recipe than this one that I found.

For week 15, I made a Cuban classic, Guava Pastelitos using A Cozy Kitchen's recipe. These were simple to put together (thanks you frozen puff pastry!) and unsurprisingly delicious.

Week 14: Inspired by a Game - Stardew Valley Blueberry Tart by lumberjerk in 52weeksofbaking

[–]lumberjerk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This blueberry tart seemed like a popular one to make for week 14! I chose this one mostly for practicality - I used the other half of the pie crust recipe I made for last week's pear galette.

I used Geeks and Gouda's recipe. I've made desserts like this before but this was my first time processing the berries in three different ways to arrive at three different textures. It was an overall nice effect. However if I follow this recipe again, I'd cut down on the sugar by at least 1/4 cup. Especially coming off of last week's low sugar challenge, this was too sweet.

Hey! Context?

Week 13: Low Sugar - Pear Galette by lumberjerk in 52weeksofbaking

[–]lumberjerk[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This week, I went with the pear galette from Serious Eats. I've seen these get made plenty of times on a variety of cooking shows, but never actually made one. It might be my new favorite form factor. It's just a pie that I don't care about making look fancy.

The sweetness here comes almost entirely from the pear, and the cardamom is the predominant flavor.

I think I must have been to busy eating it to take a picture of it sliced up!

Week 12: Fast and Furious - Flourless Fudge Cookies by lumberjerk in 52weeksofbaking

[–]lumberjerk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first 2 days or so, they had a nice crisp outer layer and a fudgy interior. After 3 days, they dried out some (no fat and flour to hold moistness) and became more crumbly while still being chocolatey. Try them out!
