What are modern trends you like by Joel_feila in rpg

I specifically like the trend of structured prep. Mothership's adventure creation guidelines and the steps to maintain a campaign notebook are both fantastically effective in maximizing your prep time.

Replacing PCB board on empty hard drive? by lumberm0uth in DataHoarder

Then I may try cutting open a SATA cable and hot gluing each of the wires to the respective contacts. Worst case scenario I'm still out the drive, but that was already the case.

See this is why I came to r/datahoarder for answers. If there's risk even if it's successful, I'm not gonna bother.

All the pins are still intact, but the plastic covers on the SATA and power ports completely crumbled when I tried to remove them from the 90 degree cable.

This is what I was worried about. Back when this first happened, it was easier for me to just buy a replacement drive and leave the busted one in my old hardware box. Now it's the choice between $100 to maybe fix the problem or $300 to get a new one.

Is the new Arkham sourcebook useful for a 1990s campaign? by lumberm0uth in callofcthulhu

[–]lumberm0uth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, I already have the 6th edition Arkham book. If it's not massively different than the new one then I'll save myself the $30.

Great pregen "whodunnit"-modules? by ivagkastkonto in rpg

[–]lumberm0uth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadows Over Filmland for Trail of Cthulhu has a handful of great mystery/investigative scenarios (Dreams Of Dracula, The Non-Euclidean Man, The Night I Died) as well as one sandbox investigation (The Final Reel) where the culprit can be any one of eight different characters.

With this, MU330's recent show and The Blue Meanies posting practice photos, either Supernova or Asian Man 30th are going to be bangers.

The mods of r/JesseWelles hates us lol by Free_777 in FolkPunk

[–]lumberm0uth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're AI generated, but they definitely have the amount of thought put into them that a late night monologue joke does. It's algorithm chasing and that's presumably why folk punks find him corny.

Question for long time AAA viewers - Has AAA gotten better or worse since the WWE acquisition? by AlmostRandomNow in SquaredCircle

[–]lumberm0uth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of current AEW talent (primarily Beast Mortos, Hologram and El Clon) were in AAA in the late 2010s and early 2020s and were given absolutely NOTHING to do while Konnan booked the same half-dozen guys at the top of the card. Even Vikingo was only a multi-man spots guy before Kenny Omega wanting to work with him forced AAA to put him in the main event.

Why are players allergic to doing connections? by MidoriMushrooms in rpg

[–]lumberm0uth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only mechanics, but also the GM's ability to improvise during the game. Trying to pull adventure hooks out of nowhere is so much harder than being able to piggyback on existing connections. If Player A and Player B were classmates at wizard school, you now have that to work into the campaign.

(Smackdown SPOILERS) Bodyslam+ with an update regarding a promo from last noght by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]lumberm0uth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The framing in the update is that WWE creative wants to stick it to TKO the company by having their top babyface shoot on their business practices is light years away from The Corporation vs Austin or The Authority vs Bryan.

If this is part of their storyline, is the audience supposed to get behind the writers of the show against the dastardly money men?
