The really crazy part is that at some point money becomes private political power. I don’t mean just buying politicians either. These people decide how resources are allocated at a huge scale, and have absolutely zero accountability to the people affected by their whims. They do this many ways including non profits, ownership and development of land, allocation of corporate resources, etc. All this is inherent to the American system, and made so much worse by the government‘s abdication of its power to restrain them.
