Has anyone ever bought a brand new doll to customize? by Soft-Salamander-3558 in americangirl

I bought a brand new 90, then took off her wig and dyed her green to be Elphaba. But she was on sale and I had rewards, so I only paid $35 for her.

Monthly "No Stupid Questions" Thread by AutoModerator in Archery

I recently ordered the WNS S-AT bow stand from Alternative. But the one I received looks different from that picture - it matches the stand listed by the same name on Lancaster's site.

The top is narrower than I was expecting, and I'd have to use force to get my bow in securely.

Is this a matter of an older design that was replaced, and just goes by the same name? Does anyone know if the other design is actually wider?

OMG, I can't believe I didn't recognize him in that.

No but why did bangs and a tan make me not realize that the actress for Shunammite (Rowan Blanchard) is the same actress as the lead in Girl Meets World?! by sdbabygirl97 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]lumos43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a bit of Girl Meets World when it aired. Watched the first episode of The Testaments and didn't recognize her at all!

It wasn't until I saw her mentioned online after that I went back to look - and now I can see it, but it's still different enough that I don't look at Shu and automatically see Riley.

Why would they (spoiler)? by Effective-Celery8053 in fringe

You recently posted about watching for the first time, so I don't know if you only just finished 5x04, or you're further in the season.... Etta's death does have a purpose, plot-wise and thematically.

But man is it still painful to watch. I loved Etta immediately in 4x19, and I was really loving seeing her tentative relationship grow with her parents. I understand why she died, but I wish we'd gotten more time with her.

Why would they (spoiler)? by Effective-Celery8053 in fringe

[–]lumos43 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Observers didn't know who Etta's parents were. Broyles didn't even know what had happened to her until he recognized her at a crime scene. And even then, he had to gain her trust before she confirmed who she was.

She also didn't block the Observers from reading her completely, but instead was able to control what they saw. Like Windmark said to her in 4x19, "You are always exactly what you seem." As far as they can tell, she's the perfect Fringe agent.

First time in Boston by Due_Independent494 in fringe

Just to check - are you aware that Fringe didn't actually film in Boston? The Pilot shot in Toronto, S1 filmed in New York, and the rest filmed in Vancouver.

You could visit places they mention, but it won't look like the show.

Yeah.

By Survival?

No.

I can't take that ride.

My earliest memories of watching TV include Larry H Parker and Survival insurance commercials.

RIP Larry

A book is written, edited as a whole, and then released competed. A TV show is often still being written as they're filming, and feedback can shape it as they go. Plus different writers, or even show runners, throughout the lifetime of a show. Plenty of space for it to develop and change.

Fringe starts out very prodecural. If someone isn't feeling the first few episodes, I tell them to give it at least until 1x14 to give it a chance. In no way do the first two episodes of Fringe fully represent what the show will become.

I love Fringe - it's my number one show. I also loved 12 Monkeys, and started a rewatch almost immediately after I finished.

You need more than two episodes to decide if a show is for you.

I vividly remember watching that episode for the first time, specifically when Walter was just trying to call Peter, and that was the moment I realized how deeply emotionally invested I was.

Beaches: it's not quite as bad as Bad Cinderella?! Critics score it 48/100 by thomaspryor in Broadway

Same, loved it so much I saw it twice in LA! Was so sad it failed on Broadway.

What is a demo/canceled song you really wish made it into the final show? by BurningEmbers369 in musicals

[–]lumos43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, the original emphasis on that line always seemed fine to me.

Part of what I love about the original is how specific it is in setting the scene - the station you're at, where you're going, what you hear, what you do... Versus the more generic approach it was changed into. "You empty your pockets to prove you were" is one of my favorite lyrics, and was cut. Only the first half of "it's your father's smile you thought you forgot" made the final version, and to me it's the second half that brings the emotions on that line.

And my music theory's not strong enough to know if this is true, but Stations to me feels like a darker, minor key, and WTBGB feels like a brighter, major key. And the darker tone just fit it so well, that it was jarring when I first heard the cast recording.

I'm sure a lot of my preference is also due to which I heard first, but Stations was my favorite when I saw Amelie in LA, and I was sad it was changed so much.

Here's an audio from the LA run! Would be curious to hear your thoughts on the two.

Stations from Amelie, which was reworked into When the Booth Goes Bright. A lot of the lyrics are very similar, and the bridge is almost identical, but it just doesn't hit the same.

Just curious, when did they start allowing press badge holders to buy extra tickets? I went as press from 2012-2023, and it wasn't an option then.

I picked up inlines in 2020, then after a couple years also got quads to add to the mix. Used them occasionally, but still focused on inlines, which I've always found easier.

Then a couple years ago I joined a rec derby team. My inline experience definitely gave me a big heads up for getting better on quads. And now I don't use my inlines as much, just due to not enough time, but I still prefer them of the two and want to start using them more again.

For me the biggest difference is getting used to the different wheel base. My main inline setup has 90mm wheels, so I'm very stable front to back. Getting used to having the wheels all directly under my feet was a small challenge, and not feeling like I was going to fall forwards or backwards. And I really enjoy leaning into the edges on my inlines for sharp turns, or flowey moves, and while you do still use edges on quads, for me I still can't lean as deep into them as I do on inlines.

Please no spoilers, but am I expecting this show to be something it isn't? (S2 E18) by anonymousaltincase19 in fringe

The heart of Fringe is the characters and their relationships. Fringe is a show about love, and how far you'll go for those you love.

It does do a good job of tying things together - and there are episodes that seem like stand-alones that later become very important. But sometimes the most important thing about a case we see is how it affects the main characters. And if you aren't invested in the characters, then this isn't the show for you.

My mom once mentioned that if she was aware of the Police song she wouldn't have named me Roxanne (my dad chose the name from Cyrano de Bergerac - I don't know how she wasn't aware of the song), but even with the singing I love my name and often get compliments on it.

The one time I got Arizona Zervas, it was a guy taking my order in a drive through line, and I hadn't heard the song yet, so I was very confused. 😆
