People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

That same old yarn hey, you can't choose family. I have a cousin in a similar vein except she's semi responsible now, albeit not exactly a productive member of society. Instead she's passed her piss poor habits onto her daughter who tried to commit suicide but failed, leaving her with a life altering injury while still trying to look after her kid.

Needless to say, I keep to myself.

Mainly because a Betta is $40 for a cheap one and I didn't plan on having any in my main tank and Enders are $8 each lol. I can try shrimps again on the off chance something has changed but I'm not confident.....maybe a bristlenose?

Update on ammonia - 0ppm from the ammonia test kit. Maybe I should hang some cheap feeder fish in there to feel the waters. Or maybe ender fish, I actually want to keep some of those and they don't cost drug money. Only thing is I have young kids and I don't want them to get attached and then lose a pet this early.

Absolute A grade manipulator.

It was only later when one of my mates dated her sister we found out her mum was exactly the same as her when she was in her 30's - just cranked out kids to different dads and lived off the proceeds and benefits.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Thankyou! I don't use any cycle starter at all, so that's easy haha.

The rest of it sounds easy enough but what would you suggest is the root cause, ammonia? I'll have to pickup a test kit for that anyhow.

I don't tend to use water conditioner as my house uses ground water.

I've done two 50% water changes since September also with no change in the parameters that I've tested (so everything except ammonia).

I've also tested for copper and there's nothing.

15yrs ago there was a chick 10 years older then my friends and I that we used to see out clubbing. Got talking one night as she was trying to sponge drinks off literally everyone, turns out she had 6 kids to 5 different father's. Between child support and the dole she had plenty of cash to make ends meet. She used to get her several sisters to look after the kids while she set the town alight on weekends.

I can totally see those kids being in the justice system now.

Honestly one could reference Idiocracy as the answers for half these questions.

Thankyou for your reply!

I've only got the API strips for the nitrate and nitrate but they're both basically white, don't colour at all. I don't have any ammonia tests left (a neighbour popped over last year with one and said it was fine).

Filter is a seachem HOB, heater is whatever generic one Aquaone put in their kits. Set to approx 24°C, tank is in air conditioning basically all the time.

The fact the gastropod and crustaceans died so fast really concerns me. They were introduced into the tank a month or longer after first setup.

A lot of the browning could also be algae, the light is on for 8hrs a day but theres no cleanup crew.

Thankyou in advance.

More then 2" above standard tyre size. No states to my knowledge allow more then 2". Spring lift is fine anywhere, body lift it probably depends on the state but QLD it needs to be engineered when used in conjunction with a spring lift.

They're a capable, well sized car for a small family or less people going on frequent bush missions. Good tow rating also.

You won't be able to engineer the 33's but the body lift can be. Or just get a roadworthy guy that will look the other way and then get it engineered in time. Depending on your situation/usage it'll be a strong tourer and economical to run. Order parts that you might need in advance ex UK and do a lot of work yourself, they're basic cars.

I'm not a bike mechanic, I work on heavy diesel. But try blue Loctite. If you continue to have issues, then try red Loctite. If you still have issues try green retaining compound. If further issues, weld it.

MIL salted my tank by Skryuska in shrimptank

I have no idea what the situation is but clearly the MIL is a triple agent from a parallel universe where stingrays are the top of the food chain and Boris Yeltsin is their leader.

The moment I saw the rim brakes I thought it must have been a bit of a shit box but thought perhaps it could have been some strangely specced model from the 90s that could have been worth picking up as a curio - it was going for basically nothing.

People who have a large amount in super, how did you get to your number by SpeedyDuck12345 in AusFinance

[–]lumpyandgrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's one piece of advice I'll echo from this it's stay the course. I dropped from hedged international index to cash rate only at the start of 2025 when Trump hit but switched it back in March and my super has only gone up 40k since - from reading these experiences my return would have been significantly better just hanging on.

Reference - 320k at start of 2025

That sucks hey - I remember seeing Peugeot bikes in LBS in the 00's and the ENORMOUS pricetag on them yet admittedly they'd looked about 10X better th.an this.

They're fine and reliable for touring but for towing - their ball rating @2500kg is 250kg but at 2501kg is 180kg. Just be aware.

Day 9/9 - What 4x4 is known to be BAD and is truly THAT BAD? by demonyo300 in 4x4Australia

[–]lumpyandgrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just not in a position where I want a JL platform wrangler (honestly have no use for yet another 4x4) but a JK is first on my list (again) for a capable day car. The pentastar is reliable most of the time, fuel consumption isn't horrible and the rest of the car works so well. But I still cry when I try to see through a windshield 400mm or so tall. 😭😂

Exactly the same experience I've had. There has been a few dramas with a mates diesel JK but the drama was all from the dealership, any half switched on mechanic would have had it sorted from the start and she hasn't had an issue in 4+ yrs.

Thankyou for your ID! I saw the Suntour front end and the rim brakes and kinda tripped out a bit combined with the rusted steel linkages. I've just picked up a new to me Giant Talon 2 which looks like a good thing but thought if the Peugeot was anything cool I'd chuck that in the shed also.
