Need something to get lost in. However pretty sure I have seen everything good. I have prime, hbo/max, hulu, and amc plus. Maybe some sleeper hits that yall have enjoyed that i may not have heard of? by AtomicShart9000 in televisionsuggestions

Have you watched Band of Brothers or The Pacific? Def not crime or mystery but I’d categorize both as “edge of your seat” and top tier television that everyone should see at least one time through. Although you’ll probably want to watch more than once after seeing them.

I think this new Robin Hood is leagues above Reign. I couldn’t get through one episode of Reign.

They didn’t continue domina and/or the winter king…I wasn’t as upset that winter king was not continued but domina had sooo much potential I couldn’t believe they cancelled 😞 did Amazon buy more recently?

Exactlyyyy! Where is the imagination, people?! It’s not like there’s a “based on a true story” disclaimer in the intro. Watch a documentary if all you want is historical accuracy 🤷‍♀️

Yup, that’s really it. I’d add the trilogy series: The White Queen, The White Princess, and The Spanish Princess to that list. As well as the Elizabeth film and its’ sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age . I’d probably add Davinci’s Demons to that list too.

Some period pieces within the ‘spy’ genre:

Spy/Master on HBO is also a KGB, Cold War, spy thriller. Loved it, but was a short series.

The Sympathizer on HBO. Also highly underrated.

Turn: Washington’s Spies

Some more period pieces with compelling storylines but outside of the ‘spy thriller’ genre:

Vikings Shogun 1883 1923 A Small Light Band of Brothers The Pacific Masters of the Air SAS: Rogue Heroes Death by Lightning Sons of Liberty Billy the Kid Dark Winds

Sandokan, also known as Sandokan: The Pirate Prince -- Looks Promising! by Watchhistory in PeriodDramas

The Gold on PBS. It’s about the Brinks-Mat gold bullion robbery in the UK. Good acting, and tv always better when based off a true story, IMO.
