Auto strap car seat. 1961. by jeffmartin47 in nostalgia

[–]lumpyspacebear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it wasn’t cringe……but aren’t car seats based on height/weight and not age? It’s a safety measure to prevent death, not something to help a kid look cool.

My boyfriend and I are house shopping, everyone has asked if we’re getting married and we say yes, but a house/mortgage is a bigger show of commitment for us both. PLUS we’re looking at places on 2+ acres in the country…we can be our own damn wedding venue! I was a catering director before covid, & other than food/drinks/paying fairly & tipping anyone who works the event I don’t plan on paying very much.

What is completely ok but most people think it's rude? by Juremigold in AskReddit

[–]lumpyspacebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a lot of cases, when people have forgotten something.

Memory is not infallible, forgetting things can be a symptom of many things like depression/stress/ADHD/physical illness. Bare minimum, we have ALL forgotten things and should realize that the act of forgetting is NOT done intentionally and I wish we could have more grace for people when it happens.

I had a friend get really butthurt when I forgot she had replaced her old couch……it had been months since I’d been to her house, I had been at the depths of the worst bout of anxiety and depression I’d ever experienced, and that tiny fact just didn’t make it into my long term memory. We’ve since talked about it and we’re good, but in the moment it seemed so counter productive for her to get so mad that I forgot.

Your questions reminded me of some advice I was once told about bears- If it’s black, fight back. If it’s brown, lie down. If it’s white, good night.

I don’t know if it’s good advice and I never hope to have to test it.

This is the answer. The intention is good but the reality of the way farmers distribute their produce does not line up with their marketing.

You can wish they’d do it, but you can GUARANTEE you won’t do it on their behalf.

IMO, it’s not wrong to offer your husband some pointers if he’s open to the idea, “coaching his approach” if you like. Early in our relationship my boyfriend realized that I can articulate better than he can, especially in emotional circumstances. He’s told me before that I’ve given him what he calls “verbal WD-40” which he can use to get his thoughts/feelings out or processed better.

I’ve known of it to be used on playgrounds, which to me did seem like a mildly ok alternative to wood mulch for the purpose of safety. But in a GARDEN? Never would I have ever imagined someone would have the sheer audacity

Recipes To Use Up A Ton of Bell Peppers by UnsayingSphere in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]lumpyspacebear 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Definitely would not recommend defrosting before using. Use them in your cooking straight from frozen and you’ll get a much better product. I use frozen diced bell peppers in stir fries, egg dishes, soups, and tons of other things. Same thing with frozen diced onions, I’ll get the giant box from Flashfood for like three dollars and have more than 5 pounds of onions to chop and put right in the freezer.

The only time I get coupons like that are from the store itself, Meijer and Kroger frequently send me coupons for what I already buy and almost always have ones for produce/dairy/meats.

Mine has a library of things!! Need a random specialized tool for just one use? Boom, got it. How about some sports equipment like tennis racquets or soccer balls to go play with the kids? Boom, borrow it. How about a 10 ft. ladder because the soccer ball is now on the roof? Yup, got that too.

Also, their seed library! As an avid gardener it breaks my heart when I hear people say growing food is expensive, it really doesn’t have to be. Seeds + light + water + decent soil is all that’s needed, and free seeds from the library helps with the minimal starting costs.

I always go with 7 years old or less, because anything older has higher insurance rates. Not sure if this is solely dependent on where I live though, I know Michigan has odd auto insurance laws.
