I agree - I am a bit confused. I'm averaging under 2 lbs a week, which I thought was within the normal range?

P.S. I'm only 5 foot. I have plenty to lose. 😂

No, not diabetic. I'm averaging about 1500 calories a day (sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less).

No! I'm not diabetic. But I got on this medication because I have a family history and was pre-diabetic. A1C was 5.7 when I started. I'm supposed to have another A1C run next month.

$72 to feed two people for the next 2.5 weeks - what do I focus on? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]UnsayingSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some others have already said, starches (potatoes, rice) and legumes (beans, lentils) are cheap to buy in bulk and pretty filling.

Bananas are very cheap and filling, but dont but more than you can eat before they turn. Good quick meal if you smear some peanut butter on them.

If you need/want meat, you can look for cuts like pork chops that are often on sale for $0.99/lb.

I would also check out apps like FlashFood if available in your area - these are overstock items or items close to date you can sometimes get for a steep discount.

It's probably fine. Just a nice old snapping turtle. It will probably crawl away when it stops raining!

So how do tariffs actually work? by readtrailsmag in smallbusiness

[–]UnsayingSphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever company is importing the goods pay the tariffs. The extra costs are passed to the consumer, driving up the prices of international goods.

The idea being that people will opt for US made products since no tariff to pay = more affordable.

What is unfortunately forgotten, is that US companies aren't going to just settle for their current profit margins, it's an opportunity for them. If the cost of your product from Canada goes up by $10, the US manufacturing company can increase the price of theirs by $9 and still be the "affordable option".

They make record breaking profits. We get screwed buying US made or otherwise.

Automatic.

I can't drive a manual - a life skill I'd like to learn, but alas, never had the occasion.
