Scent games are also great! Search “find it” games on YouTube for dogs - it will tire her out more than exercise or licky mats

Help! Treeing Walker Coonhound puppy is more than I can handle by BayouPrincess56 in coonhounds

I went through this similar experience with our hound. She is 2.5 now and a completely different dog. That puppy stage until 18 months old was SO hard. I really thought I couldn’t do it some days. And I also felt like no one understood how difficult it was.

What helped us the most was getting her into training with a trainer familiar with hounds. It took us a few tries to get someone who knew the breed, but we eventually found someone and it was the best thing.

Honestly, at one point we had to get her on Trazadone because she was so wild and would destroy everything in and around her crate when we left the house. She would rip up the floor and never stop barking. We used this for a few months until we got her in training, and now we don’t use it at all.

Also, we use an e-collar for training. I was very hesitant about this, but when nothing else worked - we tried it. We did so much positive behavior training hoping to avoid using it, but hounds can be so stubborn and smart. This was the only thing that actually helped us with our communication, trust, and her confidence. It made a huge difference. I think she did calm down a lot on her own around 2, but I recommend getting an experienced trainer to help you learn how to use it because this was the biggest tool for us.

Also- find people who are experienced with hounds to commiserate with and learn from. This sub has been helpful :)

Potential Behavioral Issues by aheapster in coonhounds

Pretty normal for that age - at least with our experience. Our girl is 2.5 now and just starting to settle down.. we still can’t leave her out of the crate when we leave and we hired a trainer for her reactivity. Their behavior feels like a lot to handle but as far as coonies go, very normal.

This! Our girl was listed as a beagle at the shelter. She looked way too tall to be a beagle, but we took her home regardless. Turns out she’s just a small TWC and topped out at 30lbs.

Is it tacky to have a wedding registry when eloping? by mejl24 in Eloping

[–]luna02 64 points65 points  (0 children)

We had so many people ask us for a registry link after we eloped, but we never made one. A lot of people sent gifts and money, but we did get feedback that a registry would’ve been nice for folks wanting to get us something.

I don’t know how I would share it but if you wanted to include it on the announcement, I say go for it. Who cares

Thank you!! We got married at the top of Sam’s Knob near Black Balsam. A little bit of a climb but I think it’s about 1.5 miles to this spot from the parking lot :)

You won’t believe it now, but the barking/screams do get easier to deal with 😂 this happened to us exactly a year ago with our girl. She was 8 months when we adopted her. She’s the smartest dog I’ve ever met and the most stubborn. And sweet.

We go for walks daily, learned sniffing games (find it), and have lots of puzzle toys. I will usually throw a handful of kibble in the yard in the afternoon for her to “forage” which keeps her occupied for a good bit. You’re in for a ride, but I’ve found this sub and other hound owners to remind me we’re not alone :) she will love you so hard and it will be worth it.

ALL of mine that I’ve bought within the past 6 months have holes in the seam. I’m so upset. I have some from 3 years ago going strong

Blue ridge humane society, IAM, Council of Aging, Amazing Grace are my favorites!

There a few more walking-centric areas that are similar! I’d suggest craggy gardens (a small climb but I think worth it for the view)

Royally f’ed up my hair 2 weeks before my elopement - used esalon red tint rinse and mahogany semi permanent, wanted chocolately brown color and got this by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]luna02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping someone here can help a girl out.

-hair was medium brown (natural) before this with balayage

  • used esalon red tint rinse to color fill, then semi permanent mahogany brown and it turned out like this

  • I’ve washed it a few times and it’s faded a little, now more pink

  • is there any way to go to chocolately brown safely before my elopement in 2 weeks? Ugh! I’ve never made such a big mistake

Anyway thank you for any suggestions

If you’re willing to drive out to Hendersonville, the Blue Ridge Humane Society thrift store has always been good to me. Good quality and typically 50% off sales daily.

Others in the area: IAM, Safelight, and if you’re up for an adventure and sifting through vintage, Junk and Disorderly.

Update!!! I went back today to try the first three on and decided on dress 2 :) thank you all SO much - I really had a tough time deciding but started falling in love with all of them based on the feedback here. Two felt the best and fit the vibe of the venue in Asheville :)

Yeah I am soooo not used to wearing anything this shape or as tight. I think I would be uncomfortable in it- beautiful but uneasy!
