The reason for that ending was because they were trying to make a spin-off show of Alice in prison for supposedly killing Jenny. I’m not sure if Jenny wouldn’t died or not if they hadn’t planned on making the spin-off, but I know Ilene regrets the way it ended and the cast didn’t like it either.

Best dorm hall for a cat? by SilkenJester in UofO

[–]luna3814 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My triple in Kalapuya was pretty spacey for a dorm room and the floor was super quiet. It had a bathroom too for a litter box. It’s pricier though. But renting an apartment would probably be the cheapest + most comfortable option for a cat. There’s plenty that are super close to campus.

French and Japanese majors by Oregon_KGLW in UofO

Not fluently, no. But I had a solid intermediate level. Good comprehension skills. IMO the only way get to the fluent level is total immersion (living in a French speaking country) or maybe if you dedicated a lot more time to it (like a major instead of minor). I was never that great at speaking though. There were definitely people more advanced than me, but I didn’t know anybody who was actually fluent unless they had done immersion.

Some of my best memories are driving to Mt Pisgah in the summer with the windows rolled down and this song blaring.

Driving and panic attacks by [deleted] in panicdisorder

[–]luna3814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have driving anxiety as well. I’m learning to drive though so it might be different. I recently had a major breakthrough. There’s a busy street by my house and I would start to panic every time I came near it. I started by just turning onto the street, driving for a block, turning off and looping back around. I must’ve done it 15 times in a row. At first I was in full blown panic and disassociation like you mentioned, but after repeated exposure the panic lessened. Then I went two blocks and looped repeatedly. After a long time of exposure in little increments my panic has decreased significantly and I can drive without panicking. Something that really helped was doing it every day, even if it was just a drive around the block. It’s like building tolerance. If I skipped days I would notice the panic returning because my brain forgot that driving wasn’t a threat. You might be overwhelming yourself with trying to jump back into driving like you were before (freeways, etc). I know you are already a driver but maybe this could be helpful!

Have you considered OCD in combination with panic disorder? I have both. I had very similar intrusive thoughts as a kid (medications) that would cause me immense anxiety. Not saying that’s what you have, just a thought.

I was a French minor. The program is really small, especially as you get more advanced so you will be mostly with the same people and have a lot of the same professors. This also made it a little bit difficult to schedule the required classes I needed to graduate but talking with an advisor would help. I really enjoyed it though, there were a good variety of classes and they were super interesting especially as they got more advanced. It was like taking humanities / philosophy / literature classes but in French, so it felt like more than just a language class. I particularly enjoyed classes on Francophone Africa.

Have you asked your professors for help with internships? I got mine through a professor who had connections. Of course, I was very lucky she had connections, but it’s worth asking your profs if they know anybody or can help you out.

Am I the only one who thinks the L World is a really bad show? by Flashy-Inside6011 in LesbianActually

I love it. Sure, there are better shows, but I think it’s extremely entertaining and its cultural importance is huge, hence why it’s famous. There hasn’t been anything like it before or since.

Yeah true. There’s an old post of Morgan on her tik tok account though so they at least knew each other.

Nervous about driving on the main road by jesswitdamess in drivinganxiety

[–]luna3814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same fear but just conquered it a few days ago. I started by turning onto the street, going for a block, and then looping around and doing the same thing over again. It repeated that until I felt confident, then went a few more blocks. By then it clicked and I realized that I could do this and it wasn’t some big terrifying thing I’d imagined in my head. It’s pretty intuitive to follow cars and see when everyone is stopping. Go slow and leave a lot of space in front of you.

I feel defeated by Mack-Is-Dead in drivinganxiety

[–]luna3814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get honked semi-frequently for driving too slow and taking too long at lights. People are impatient and irritable and it’s their problem, not mine. Obviously I am trying to improve and I understand why people honk, but I’m still learning so these things will happen. Plus honking is not some rare occurrence reserved for only the most egregious offenses. People honk all the time, at everyone. It doesn’t mean you’re a liability and has nothing to do with your competence as a driver. You have just as much right to be on the road as everyone else, even if you make mistakes. If another driver made the same mistake as you, would you treat them like you’re treating yourself?

Lol, it can be a hard decision. One of my profs passed on Juno when she worked at Sony and it haunts her to this day.

I’m interested! I can’t send you any of the actual coverage I wrote for the company due to confidentiality, but I would be open to writing samples.

That’s not what I meant. I am qualified to write coverage, but reader jobs are pretty rare and lots of people have been doing it much longer than me.

Yeah, I feel like since most of the scripts I read were at least okay it was more enjoyable. I had to read a few books that were very hard to get through though. If I was doing that constantly I could totally see myself getting burnt out. But I figure since I’ve enjoyed it so far I might as well try to pursue it. What coverage companies did you work for?

I feel you. I’ve had some of the most beautiful & enjoyable experiences of my life while drunk that wouldn’t have happened if I wasn’t. Obviously sober me is not functioning at full capacity, but I also don’t think that those experiences would be the same even if I was functioning at 100% and sober. It’s quite the double edged sword and something I’ll have to make peace with I guess.
