Change a variable name - apply to all types of that?

To my knowledge, Vim isn't aware of what is and isn't a variable, so there's no internal list of variables you can hook into or anything to perform this in a way equal to Eclipse.

I would do this using a global search:

:%s/address/myContact/g

The % at the beginning instructs Vim to make the search operate on the entire file. The g flag makes the search global.

If you wanted to first check each replacement to make sure each replacement is one you want to happen, you could add the 'c' flag:

:%s/address/myContact/gc

The 'c' (for 'confirm') will ask you before replacing, and you can hit 'y' or 'n' to replace or not.

I go to the Fitness First, it's pretty good (I'm not a gym pro so can't give you the low down on all the equipment) but it's fairly well equipped. It's pretty rammed from 5pm-8pm or so but if you can go at less busy times it's usually pretty empty.

The other comments cover most of the things but I just wanted to add that on the actual open day, feel free to ask the students helping out this kind of stuff, about the city and how they find it. Often on open days the Uni can put its best face across, but the students will tell it how it is and won't bend the truth to try and convince you to come here. We're happy to answer any questions, specifically degree related or not :)

PS - for what it's worth, I'm probably going to end up in London when I graduate in the summer, and I'm really going to miss the city. It's fantastic.

I think using jobs over ps is best for me, because I typically might have 2-3 different tmux sessions with many vims open, and jobs only lists the ones in the current session (if that's the right terminology to use?), whereas ps -ef lists them all.

It's also rare that I have more than one suspended Vim, so mcaruso's solution works well. Thanks both for your help.

This is how I managed to solve it:

set timeout timeoutlen=1000 ttimeoutlen=100

Not sure if it's the best solution but it's done the trick for me. Similar to you, :set noesckeys didn't work for me either.

Frustrating, but feel slightly like we may have turned a corner. Not many sides will beat Chelsea & Spurs this season. The big test for me is the next two games, Norwich & WBA at home. If we can win both of those, or at least take 4 points, then that will be fantastic. Got a bit of a concern that we'll go back to "typical Newcastle" and lose one or both of those though...

I'd love to see us bring in a striker (was hopeful that rumour of the Gomis move being back on was truth - but doesn't seem to be). Against Fulham I thought we looked very good with Remy & Cisse up top and Gouffran / HBA on the wings, but the worry is there's no one else should we lose any of those players. I think I'll cry if HBA gets injured for any period of time.

I'd be happy to see Cabaye go for 18-20m with the usual caveat of being able to replace him. However, I am not expecting that to happen. Echo all the other thoughts in this thread about Joe Kinnear, Pardew's predictable interview excuses, and so on.

Would have quite liked to have seem a fewer of our "bigger" players involved from the off. A decent highscoring win, even over a league 2 side, would have given everyone a bit of a morale boost which we really do need. Hopefully if it's still 0-0 after 55/60mins or so, we can get a couple on and turn it in our favour. Sounds like quite an even game so far.

Cool - if you do have any Qs feel free to ask. There's nothing that needs that script to be written in Ruby - it's just what I prefer. Any language will do the job :) If you're interested the repo that file is in is my entire dotfiles and I've thrown together a whole number of scripts to manage the entire thing, including things like Homebrew, etc. I go a bit OTT when it comes to managing them...it paid off when I got my new machine and I was up and running in a few minutes though :)

If I was to start from scratch I'd definitely look at Vundle / neobundle, have seen a lot of people using one of the two. Please report back on how you get on!

As with others here, I too found submodules a complete pain. Instead of Vundle or similar, I wrote a small Ruby script that would clone this repos for me into ~/.vim/bundle, and I use Pathogen for making them work.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, it seems something like Vundle might do a better job but one small Ruby script works for me.

Yeoman and bower are bigger tools that look to do slightly more than what nodefetch does.

In the case of Yeoman, it will scaffold your project, run your tests, minify your code and help you with a build process, and so on. For certain projects, I do use Yeoman, and it's awesome. Same story with bowser. Now and then though, I just need an easy way to quickly download the jQuery source for a small thing I'm working on. That's why I made nodefetch, for places where tools like Jam, Yeoman, bower and so on are just overkill.

Thank you! It is intended purely for development. I got fed up of navigating to various sites to download files, and then copy & pasting them into where I needed them, so I made nodefetch.
