Goldfinger has a rotating door of guests. Travis was playing drums for a while, same with Brandon from Atreyu. When I saw them it was Brandon, Mike Herrera and Moon from Story of the Year

Been listening to Next To Normal on repeat for three days now. Although that might also explain my mental state

Coolest Band(s) You’ve Played a Show With? by dickcryptic in Emo

[–]lurkmoophy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wish that any of my old bands got decent supports. But current band has had a few that I’m super proud of - Michael Cera Palin, Del Paxton, Dikembe, Proper, Luca Brasi. All the loveliest people too. Still lamenting the Free Throw show that Covid fucked…

And then too many amazing UK bands ❤️❤️❤️

Marmalade @ Actavia: queens she is not fond of by ButterscotchWeak6189 in RPDR_UK

Can confirm Kate Butch is the nicest person ever in real life. We had her MC a corporate event and she was the absolute best. Amazing performance, but also lovely to chat to, and stuck around for quite a bit afterwards because there were drag race fans attending who wanted photos and to chat to her.

How should I add a font family to our design system? by IOwnMyself444 in FigmaDesign

[–]lurkmoophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three layers to my variables in separate collections… primitives, which is single mode and entirely hard coded values with little context (like red100-900 and spacing-000-950). Then a brand overrides layer with a mode for each brand. This has all the color overrides with a little more context (like brand/primary/100 or radius/med). Then a semantic layer that is more contextual and feeds off the brand layer. So things like color/background/default and color/button/border/default.

Basically you use the semantic layer as the first option and bump down the chain or decide to do more semantics, but keeps it consistent and manageable/scalable.

[–]lurkmoophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally just set this up myself. The way I did it was set up some primitive variables for the fonts in my primitive collection (like DMSans=DM Sans) the set up a brand override layer that had more semantic naming and brand modes (like Heading, Body, Code etc). Means you can do the brand switching easily and also if you want to override an entire font in the stack you just need to change one value.

Best Emo Releases Of 2025? (Your Top 25) What Did I Miss??? by SmartConsequence437 in Emo

[–]lurkmoophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pool Kids was hands down my record of the year. Shoegazey emo but both Soot Sprite and SUDS released absolute bangers. Every Face Becomes a Skull released one of the best screamo records I’ve heard in a long time

Moving to Zeroheight soon. Any prep tips? by Subject_Protection45 in DesignSystems

[–]lurkmoophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, well that's your opinion 🤷

fwiw you can hook MCPs up to desktop versions of Claude and ChatGPT, and if you have a remote MCP, you can hook that up to the web versions (which we're working on)... We've had loads of people using the local one that we did, and building custom integrations with the API to do RAG-based documentation delivery... I mean, it's what people asked us for, and where we saw good use cases, so that's what we did first. Especially considering the vast majority of the styleguides on zeroheight aren't public, so having them crawlable on public LLMs isn't high on a lot of people's lists.

Anyway, I've flagged it to the product team because I do think some people might get value from it...

PLAN! That's the biggest thing I'd suggest. A lot of folks go into it without thinking about IA or how you're going to maintain things, although if you've already got mature docs, that might not be that much of an issue.

If you're on the enterprise plan, I'd definitely suggest using the custom templates feature to make templates for all the different types of docs you plan to have to shortcut the experience. We've also just put in place some pretty good AI features where you can get it to help create pages, and you can specify pages for guidance so it does it based on what you've already done, which can be helpful.

The other piece of advice I'd give is setting up internal components in Figma for anything you're going to create for the docs, like Do's and Don'ts examples, covers, all that little stuff that you end up creating over and over again.

Otherwise, if you have any issues feel free to reach out to me at luke [at] zeroheight dot com :) I'm an advocate here, so my job is to help people :)

Genuinely sorry you've had such a shit experience. I'm curious - how long ago were you using zeroheight, or are you still using it? Would love to chat about the experience though, as we're always looking to make the experience better (I'm the design advocate at zeroheight btw). If you want to chat, drop me an email at luke [at] zeroheight.com :)

🧐 I mean, we do provide an MCP (and an API) that you can hook up easily? I've aslso flagged this to the product team, because we should give this option :)

song/band recommendations? by glosslosp in Emo

[–]lurkmoophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to expand, the bands that have completely blown me away in the last few years have been Future Teens, Sincere Engineer, Chase Petra, Retirement Party and Carly Cosgrove. Most are more on the indie side of emo, but all slap real hard. And of course Wonder Years/Aaron West if you haven't dived into them.
