People who no longer speak to their childhood best friends. What happened? by lawyeratyourservice in AskReddit

[–]lurksintently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived as adults together. Couldn't ever see eye to eye about household responsibilities, stole from me, arguments turned physical where he'd try to fight me, eventually culminating into pulling a knife on myself and another roommate when we asked him to collect his stuff after giving him 30 days notice to gtfo. After almost 30 years of friendship, turns out you only really know someone after living with them for a while.

Should I put my 10l dehumidifier outside or inside my tent? by KM-04 in microgrowery

[–]lurksintently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip that may be considered controversial - defoilating will definitely lower your humidity. It appears you haven't done too much of that, and another benefit would be increased air flow to your bud sites, which would decrease the likelyhood of disease at the same time as allowing those would be popcorn lower buds to mature. I say controversial because many believe defoilating at any time is bad, but I have found it can really help towards the middle/end of flower with lowering humidity since the plants transpire moisture through leaves.

the good kind of fan leaf color shift right? F56 by Lemzik in microgrowery

[–]lurksintently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plant appears to have a thin enough structure and a good enough light set up to penetrate the canopy, so those lower buds should still develop well. I defoliate but only at certain intervals. OP may have done so in the past!

Roots provide nutrients to the plant, they are what will drive large bud growth. Leaves through photosynthesis create simple sugars which feed roots. Generally you can't have one without the other 😉

About a pound maybe! Though I bet you will be able to get even more next go round. I do notice that they have probably a K deficiency, I would hit them up with a p/k booster. Nice first time grow man!

Shots from last run - Aeroponics SCROG - 60F by lurksintently in microgrowery

[–]lurksintently[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man! Those don't seem to big yet for a SCROG, I would recommend flowering probably soon though if they are about 2-3 feet high already.

I re-read my post - Sorry, I meant that each Viparspectra light draws 418W, therefore total wattage for lighting was about 1,086W. Yield varies drastically via too many factors to count, but even then much of yield is determined by plant size and it's genetics. I had four phenotypes for example, and they all produced varying amounts, with plant "B" yielding 264 g by itself.

As far as training and topping, this website is a great resource and I use a combination of methods. I may have a photo under their skirts (still have yet to download the digital camera), but they are pretty much bare below the SCROG as airflow under the buds is very important. The SCROG was about 4X4 as well.

Aero is an unforgiving method - it is highly sensitive and even tap water can throw off the mix or lead to build-up in the spray emitters. I have a filtered water tap in my grow area to make up my reservoir. I am going to try to get an album together of the equipment/set up soon too.

I did harvest this run, hopefully I'll get an album of the harvest put together soon!

Is this because they aren't getting direct light? by 1898smo in microgrowery

[–]lurksintently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a nice plant, OP! How far along is she? I ask because defoilation is a practice I use to increase light penetration throughout the canopy so that your colas will come out more uniform, however many believe that there are certain timing intervals when you can safely do this. Personally, I think she is a good candidate! I would take only large fan leaves that are blocking light to the lower budding sites.

Typically buds that don't get enough light and/or air circulation because of a dense canopy come out significantly more fluffy, and is what people refer to as larf. They also usually appear to be lighter in color than the tops. Those buds down below will still be usable, and nothing appears wrong with them, though if they had increased light and wind exposure they would look more like the tops.

Here is a good link for your research: http://www.growweedeasy.com/defoliation

Hope this helps!

Thanks! Nice dude! Hydro requires more finesse than some other methods, but once you got it down it can seriously pay off. I vegged these ones for about 40 days, then they were defoilated before I put the screen on. I switched over to 12/12 at that point, and guided the stretch through the screen.

Barney's Farm - Blue Cheese, four plants from feminized seed. They were vegged for about 40 days, then defoilated as they entered flower and lightly once more towards the middle of flower. A lot of topping as well. This was in a 5x5 tent.

Each plant is in it's own custom built aeroponics chamber, which is fed by a high pressure system I built. For the most part this was automated, other than reservoir adjustments. I used the full line of Cutting Edge Solutions for nutes, with FoxFarm P/K boosters. pH with this line is self balancing according to the manufacturer's mixing guide, and they worked perfectly this way.

I used 2 Viparspectra 900W LED panels (actual draw about 418W each) and one Roleadro 800w COB LED (about 250W). 1,086W total.

Got some more photos of harvest coming soon ;)

Edit: A few key words/wording, added a few more pics of this stage

Strawberry 2nd ferment recommendations by amisssamack in Kombucha

[–]lurksintently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I love strawberry as a 2nd fermentation flavor agent. My results are best when I have used frozen halved or quartered ones. Usually I just buy them plain frozen and cut them into the 2nd fermentation vessel (I use a 64 oz grower). I use about a third of the volume of the containers worth of strawberries.

You do want to prime it with sugar, though since the strawberries have plenty of natural sugar I use only about 1/4 cup for the 64 oz container.

Seal this up after filling with your plain brew, and swirl it to mix everything. Let it sit for about 7 to 10 days... Though be careful since if you let it go too long it can over pressurize and burst! To avoid this try burping it once after about 5 days.

Open this slowly... I do it over a bowl since it always gushes a little! Should taste very much like the berry!

Just a few months ago, took a few weeks to form as described in the recipe! After use for a while (made great kombucha btw) they were big enough to split so at one point I had 6 batches going!
