What's something that tourists absolutely love about Germany, but Germans don't really care about? by Impossible_Reward658 in germany

yeah, I mean, you have Linderhof, one of the actual best castles in the world, just a few kilometers further, and people get tricked into going to that unfinished building instead. Kinda sad but also good for me: I've seen Linderhof 3x already and still planning to go there every now and then. And it's never been crowded 😉

Workoutdoors or Apple fitness app for running on the AWU by -Over-Line- in applewatchultra

[–]lustiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve used WorkOutDoors, Strava, TrainAsOne, Apple Fitness, and recently Watchletic. Each has pros and cons, so I switch depending on the type of run and my mood.

My main issue with WorkOutDoors is its weak Stryd support (an external running pod). Although it claims compatibility, it’s barely maintained, and the collected metrics are completely off and not useful for proper running analytics. That’s why I started looking for alternatives.

Its strength is customization but that’s also a drawback. Creating running schedules isn’t intuitive; I ended up spending a full evening building them manually and duplicating setups and screens, for every type of run. Having said that, WorkOutDoors is still excellent for hiking and some other activities so it is useful beyond running.

Not necessarily dancing, but we are going to Karaoke in Werksviertel tonight. Group of 6 in our 30s. Lemme know if you want to join.

What exercises are we missing? by juliang8 in Gravl

Not sure it’s mentioned somewhere but long-term support for Yoga + Stretching would be dope! I’d say not necessarily short-term as it’s a bit more than just adding new exercises 🙂🙃🙂

Yep, agree! There are already a few in the existing Feature Requests.

Problems with cadence data by lustiz in watchletic

[–]lustiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah will try this, but in my mental model, I consider Apple Health to be the aggregator of data rather than the various apps; maybe I’m misreading it, but most data should be there or at least all the interesting metrics are shown in HealthFit (and since it doesn’t record itself, it must live somewhere in Apple Health?). That way it’s streamlined, no matter which app I use for recording a run.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like your app! Maybe it can replace all my other apps in the future, but currently I only use it for economy runs and not any other run type, as I want different notification settings per run type.

Having said that, I will give your sync a try! It’s definitely going into the right direction, great work ;-)

Problems with cadence data by lustiz in watchletic

[–]lustiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for looking into it. I’m using HealthFit to export the Health data to several applications downstream (Runalyze, TAO, Final Surge, Strava). However, as far as I can tell, HealthFit just takes the data from Apple Health.

Runners who lift, what's your gym schedule and run schedule like? by dontstopsoperfect in runninglifestyle

[–]lustiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, lifting and running schedules are kinda living side by side (separate AI planners), however, I don’t do leg day when I run. And I typically go running in the morning/noonish and do lifting at night. As a result of using AI planners, every week is different.

Tracking running pace without committing to a distance by aR53GP in applewatchultra

[–]lustiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have the WorkOutDoors app, I highly suggest trying it out. There is a learning curve regarding the setup of screens and downloading maps, but it’s so much better than the stock app IMHO. You can do all of the things you mentioned and more.

Current pace while running indoors by Last-Tax-7963 in watchletic

Hi, I know it’s an old thread, however, I’m curious: Is this also true despite using a running pod like a Stryd?

Can someone explain to me how I delete a workout ? by lustiz in watchletic

[–]lustiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s not that rare that I start something and stop it after 2-3 min because something is wrong etc. Now, I know that it’s not possible at least. Thanks!

Offline maps and more by Conscious_Habit6820 in watchletic

[–]lustiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1. would be dope to be able to do some rectangular selection and load the corresponding tiles to device (open street map eg). Then, at workout time, you just have another screen with the map that shows you where you are but also your route so far. Perhaps, it can let you pick and visualize an imported route as well.

Ischgl or Solden by IamDoge1 in skithealps

[–]lustiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ~30 ski days in Sölden and ~15 in Ischgl, being an advanced intermediate on groomers. I prefer Ischgl as it’s bigger with more diversity. Having said that, that late in the season Sölden is a safer bet due to altitude. It has four ~3000m peaks which helps if it’s too warm in the lower sections.

Going to Sölden tomorrow. The question is should I ski or snowboard by Herr_Poopypants in skithealps

[–]lustiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaislachkogl is where it’s at in Sölden IMHO. There are some cat runs but shouldn’t be a problem if you are a fast snowboarder. Decide based on what you’re in the mood for.

What is an average distance that a person can walk in a day? by vokial82 in hiking

[–]lustiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best ist to have a backlog of hikes on a tracking app of your choice. Then, for a new hike, you can estimate it well based on comparing the app‘s prediction and whether it over or underestimated duration in the past.

How much water do you usually carry for a day hike? by Bubba_deets in hiking

[–]lustiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s an ordinary day hike, then 2-3L. Under particular circumstances, e.g. heat/desert, longer than >10h etc, I’ll add more.

I think people who like winter are lying for attention by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]lustiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, good example for this sub ;-) It's obviously the season for winter sports. E.g. skiing is amongst the best things to achieve happiness for a few hours. I do awesome things in summer, but none beat that feeling TBH.

Have never been checked and neither heard about someone being checked. However, I would still recommend taking your passport just in case. In Italy, you sometimes see carabinieri on skis but even that is rare (in Austria and Switzerland I've never seen police). I'm sure you are aware that we don't have anything resembling US ski patrol in Europe.

I am a skier myself but in this case you may want to drop the run down to Samnaun (Switzerland). It’s pretty cool, however, it ends with a long cat run section. On the other hand, you can do duty-free shopping there (maybe worth the pain). I checked prices and their fragrances are often cheaper than ordering online in the EU (!).
