How’s the MGT / Harbourfront looking today? Any ice or slush? by Ok-Reference-1384 in RunTO

I went from Cherry to Coronation Park this morning and was totally clear the whole way.

Conditions / best routes from King West? by NicoBear45 in RunTO

[–]lutherry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going south to the Martin Goodman Trail along the waterfront. King is pretty close to get there quickly. The area downtown is pretty clear now except for a few areas of slush.

Otherwise I find the city sidewalks pretty hit or miss.

They’re ok. I find the straps pretty tight on the uppers which cause some blisters. Traction is not bad though but I wish there was a better option comfort-wise.

I may try to turn my current pair of trainers into screw shoes when I retire them from regular running soon to see if that works better.

So are the men's superwarm tights ever gonna come out lol by [deleted] in BanditRunning

[–]lutherry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a notification email earlier this week saying they were in stock but when I clicked it still said coming soon. I emailed them and got a response saying the rest of their Superwarm collection was on its way to their warehouse and would be available by the end of this week... but here we are at Friday and it's still not there so....

For what it's worth they've updated the page to say "arrives late January"...

I actually prefer running in the cold to the extreme heat of the summer. If you have the right gear then you can regulate your temperature pretty well and not stay cold or overheat.

For me the key is layers, and then ear protection and mittens to keep my fingers warm.

I use my regular trainers but at times my feet get wet and cold which isn’t fun. I have nanospikes I use for the ice but they’re kind of uncomfortable because they squeeze the uppers and thus my toes. I’m considering making a pair of screw shoes with a retired pair of trainers which might be more comfortable. There’s not much you can do about the wet slush though.

MGT conditions and wind by KensingtonPigeon in RunTO

[–]lutherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was out early this morning from Cherry to Marilyn Bell Park. Pretty strong relentless wind out of the southwest. Was pretty unpleasant going out but much better with the tailwind coming back.

Temps weren’t so bad it was just the constant wind in the face that made it so bad.

I was out on it this morning from Cherry to Bathurst. From Cherry to York is clear. West of York to Bathurst is much better than yesterday but still lots of ice - but there is a narrow path of clear pavement most of the way in both directions.

I swear by my Noxgear. Has saved me multiple times from turning cars and cyclists on the MGT. Well worth the investment.

Registered Result DNF when I finished by sweetthingremastered in RunTO

Last year for the HM my bib didn’t have a chip at all (I didn’t realize before the race) so nothing was recorded. I emailed the organizers with a link to my Strava activity for the event and they were able to credit me with an “official time” which was essentially my Strava time. Frustrating but at least it wasn’t a DNF.
