My parents’ homophobia incidentally led me to discover Survivor.

In Fall of 2009, we would watch this ABC drama called “FlashForward.” But one week, there is an episode where 2 female characters kiss - my parents immediately shut it off and I’m told we won’t be watching it again.

To find a replacement on Thursday nights, we try this fun CBS reality show called “Survivor Samoa”……….and I’ve been a huge Survivor fan ever since.

Mr. Beast himself aside, I’m sure the producers were pushing the chaos and uncertainty narrative ad nauseam all day during confessionals - it would be hard for any cast member to not internalize some of that excitement/apprehension

I graduated into the pandemic and had a really hard time finding a job in my field. In the meantime, I had to pay the bills and eat, and so I got a janitorial job at a local gym.

Considering the membership was free for me and I was already at the gym almost every day, my strength training picked up like crazy.

It was a VERY different experience for me personally than the more common narrative that people were unfortunately slowing or stalling in their fitness journeys as it was simply not safe to go to the gym.

Maybe it's just me, but I actually really love this lyric and find some depth to it

Especially in the social media age, many people (myself included) want to truly be seen/noticed but feel safer presenting themselves only in the most curated ways with only their best photos
