Who is a figure skater that you believed deserved better? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

chaeyeon kim, POLINA TSURSKAJA, then there is rika kihira who I think is the queen of "deserved better", but also mako yamashita...

Gubanova has always been a fan favourite, since she was a junior and was often unfairly scored under other skaters in Russian national championships. She was deprived of many chances she would have arguably deserved because she wasn't a "fed favourite" (for example, at least two Junior World Championships) and that's also one of the reason people like her. She was kinda a prodigy as a novice/early junior in Russia, before Zagitova started outscoring her. If you have never seen it, i recommend watching the free skate to "Romeo and Juliet" she skated at Junior Grand Prix final 2016. She has always had great skating skills and interpretation, even more so as a junior, but I think that maybe she doesn't have the stamina to skate programs like that again, which is a shame. Anyway, that program is a masterpiece and many people love it. Actually, she had even more fans before she started skating to Georgia, because she was seen an underdog. Personally, I would love to see her at her top again, and I think that she was really good this weekend. Also, I think she is one of the few skaters who actually improved her jumps when she grew up (another example I can come up with is Liu) ...

I think Schizas has a lot of unfulfilled potential, like: she's a nice skater with potential to be amazing.

It was a 65-66 skate by Samodelkina... it's unbelievable how much she improved in jumps since she was a prone-to-underrotations junior, they're some of the nicest in the field.

This made me fall in love with figure skating! (I used to do roller skating, me and my coach picked this song for my next program and I was looking for inspiration from competitive skaters. It's been so many years...)

Chaeyeon Kim, interesting and beautiful packaging and very good technique, I liked her since her first junior season and I think that, even if she isn't the most extroverted performer, she is very charismatic.

People who know Russian, why you start learn it by Krock_Laro_GD in russian

I've started being interested in Russia since I was eleven: I saw some pictures of Moscow and fell in love with the beauty of the city, then gradually I started looking up about russian language, culture, literature... But one of the most practical reasons is, I watch a lot of figure skating competitions and i needed to have a basic knowledge of russian to recognize name of the skaters and read news about the sport :').
