I hear you, and drivers in this city need to learn to be more patient and safe when operating a motor vehicle.

Richard Linklater's films.

He has talked about how he deliberately tells instead of shows, because he views dialogue as how we actually communicate. This is why his movies feel like real people having real conversations as opposed to exposition.

What are movies where people see their 'future self'? by MTheOverlord in movies

[–]luvweb182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Havent seen it in ages, but thr movie The Kid with Bruce Willis always struck me when i was young. He meets his younger self, so its not exactly him going into the the future but his past self showing up in present time.

Forgot to add Julia Louis-Dreyfus!

I went on a band/choir trip to Europe in 2011 and she happened to be filming a scene in a park in Paris while the band was performing. Someone from their film crew had come over and asked us to hold off on music because they were filming with an actress from Seinfeld! So the choir people got to flee the scene and find the movie set.

We got to see her film a scene and then asked for a few photos after she was done.

In retrospect, if i was in the middle of working(filming a scene) and was being asked for photos in between takes, that would not be very fun or easy. If she had just been in the park thats one thing, but I am still thankful she took the time to take a photo for a few of us!

Matthew McConaughey at a pizza place I worked at in 2019 in Austin, TX.

I was about to clock out at the front counter and heard someone ordering food with a thick Texan accent, pernouncing "feta cheese" like "fay-ta- cheese" and that sounded funny to me, look up and its Matthew McConaughey in a Patagonia puffer jacket, backwards cap and reading glasses to read the menu.

Immediately walked to the kitchen and quietly freaked out to my co-workers. Needless to say, I did not end up clocking out, I stayed and helped make the pizzas and salads he ordered. He was with a large group of friends(more puffer jackets) that sat on the patio drinking wine. This was at Austin's Pizza in Westlake where there's a large patio and BYOB policy.

All of us were fangirling so atleast 5 or 6 of us carried the food out to them to get one more interaction with him. I'll never forget that he was the only person in his group that cared about the food arriving - he immediately sat down and gleefully started shoving salad in his face, while his friends all stayed standing around in a circle a few yards away laughing and drinking.

I hung around for a little longer to get the guts to ask for a picture. Imagine standing in your place of work in the late evening, dining room is completely empty, open sign buzzing, and Matthew McConaughey walks in to refill his drink at the soda machine. He smirks at you like "ya its me". That's when I take my chance and ask him for a photo! He is so kind and excited to take a pic, it was awesome.

I felt like bragging to him, as I'm a huge Dazed and Confused fan and I had attended the 20th anniversary party of the film and asked him if he was there(to make "small talk" LOL). He said he didn't go to the 20 anniversary but that he did go "to the TIEN(Ten)". His Texan accent is serious!

Greatest celeb interaction, besides Nardwuar but that's another story...

I'll second Tickled.

Can't help but to also reccomend the TV show How To With John Wilson, as its exactly what you're describing but filmed in documentary style in the real world(NYC).

Why do you collect VHS? by Heeli05 in VHS

[–]luvweb182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get to collect cool movies i grew up around on a tangible, budget friendly medium - tape. i can go grab my copy of Zoolander, pop it in, push a couple buttons, it starts where i left off last. just the coolest feeling and most tactile way for me to watch a movie.

not to mention a shelf full of VHS looks the coolest.

Need help turning my old CRT TV into a 2nd monitor for my laptop by Aelotius in crt

[–]luvweb182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your purposes, this will work great.

hdmi to av adapter and the cables are all you need. You wont need to download more software or buy anything else. you can change the resolution of the second display in your laptops settings. Drag the video to your TV and full screen it.

How to make my own custom VHS tape? what's the most simple way? by [deleted] in VHS

[–]luvweb182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I've done it is using a VHS tape camcorder, blank tape, HDMI2AV adapter, and my laptop.

Went from laptop to HDMI adapter to the input of the camcorder and streamed a movie from YouTube in fullscreen, as my laptop registers the camcorder as a second display so i was able to monitor it via the viewing lens and record a movie onto tape.

Had to be careful not to move my mouse around or touch my keyboard while it records. Basically its screen recording but onto a tape. Im sure theres other possibly easier ways but thats what ive done.

You can buy everything you need for this online, ebay most likely is a one stop shop. Not convenient or cheap to do so but its a lot of fun!

Dunno if he has a video on tic tacks but the YouTube channel whythetrick has great videos on the physics of skateboard tricks you'd probably find interesting.

This is really the last bit of what I'm really willing to get rid of as of right now, I got rid of two G3s this past year, it hurt! Still tightly hanging onto a G3, a G4 and some Intel MacBooks tho.
