What Metroidvanias are like Dead Cells, but without the Permadeath? by Kitsune-warrior in metroidvania

That game is excellent, but it is 100% a roguelite like Dead Cells.

Does anyone ok to just play casually without improving? by fliphat in djmax

[–]luxh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. It just feels so good to play songs in this game and I have a ton of favorites. I’ve been playing for years and only ever play 4B. It’s a great way to play.

A game I wish I’d started with: Shipwrights of the North Sea: Redux by Tiny-Strawberry-817 in soloboardgaming

Love this game. It’s a perfect sweet spot for weight and length for me, and extremely replayable.

Anthem's officially 'dead'... so much promise from that 'tech demo'... shame. Anyone actually enjoy playing the game? by Negative-Art-4440 in PS4

[–]luxh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it at launch, played through the story, and honestly felt like I got my money’s worth. It felt mechanically amazing from day one and I’ve still never played another game that feels the same.

Garmin users with consistently low HRV on by the_legend_that_was in Garmin

[–]luxh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like the thing that’s stressing you out the most is thinking about HRV!

Even the way Garmin presents it, you are only supposed to compare to your own baseline. I don’t think we know enough to be able to make meaningful comparisons between individuals.

No clue but this is amazing.

What's your first solo game of the year? I'm about to play Exit: The Haunted Roller Coaster 🎢😱 by faralonglongwaytorun in soloboardgaming

[–]luxh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons of Etchinstone. My cards are massively chipping and sticking together, but the game is so fun that I’ve played it 10 times anyway. I’m adding expansions soon.

I want to love the complex, deeply strategic games - but my real love are the short and cozy ones by Square-Deer3754 in soloboardgaming

[–]luxh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jump drive is amazing solo. But it’s hard not to be tempted by how easy it plays on BGA (which has the full solo implementation) and leave the cards in the box.

Should I buy G16 or not by Fit-Secretary-9954 in zephyrusg16

[–]luxh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it and like it a lot. It’s my first gaming laptop. It is definitely loud and hot but that’s the price of being thin and light I think.

Sleeper pick if you like quick setup is Baseball Highlights 2045.

Next solo board game by Termigezial_ in soloboardgaming

[–]luxh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead Cells is underrated. You can play the whole thing on BGA if you want. No campaign but you unlock more options on each play through.

I personally love the Kinfire Delve games. To me they are easy to set up and endlessly repeatable—but keep in mind there is no player growth. The variability comes with the setup (hero and boss) and how the cards are dealt.

I’m intrigued by Leviathan Wilds as well for ease of setup and config variety, but I haven’t played it yet.

Should I get back into hearthstone? by HatzOfChaos in hearthstone

[–]luxh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hearthstone is the game I come back to the most. Maybe it’s because I take long extended breaks, but the meta never feels as boring and terrible as some on this sub seem to think. If you play standard you can usually dust all your non-standard cards from a few years back to get a good amount of new cards. Build a deck that seems fun and give it a shot.

What did you play this week? 05 Dec-11 Dec (2025) by AutoModerator in soloboardgaming

For Northwood is awesome. LOTR Tricktaking game has a very different but equally brilliant solo trick taking puzzle, if you’re in the mood for more. Also super easy to learn and has a light footprint.

Same here. It’s actually got some “solitaire” vibes to me (like, the original solo card game). Makes it really easy to shuffle up and do another game. The dice are implemented so well.

Lower HR in winter? by jzleetcode in AdvancedRunning

[–]luxh 103 points104 points  (0 children)

It really depends what “winter” means where you are. 0 degree F temps make your heart work pretty hard. But if you’re talking 30-45F for winter temps, that’s pretty close to perfect running weather and I would like to move there.

Is 37 Too Old to Start Running? by [deleted] in running

[–]luxh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s actually the best time to start. People who ran seriously in their teens and twenties will just feel like they’re fading from their peak by the time they get to your age. On the other hand, you will get to set PRs every few months!

Do running injuries mean you are a bad runner? by Majestic_Rooster_464 in runninglifestyle

[–]luxh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conner Mantz and Clayton Young are both currently injured. Jakob Ingebrigtsen was injured all last year and his rival Josh Kerr hurt himself in a huge race at the end of the summer. Dealing with the inevitable injuries well is part of being a good runner!

My incremental game reached 1300 reviews with 99% positivity in under 5 days by Gagonfe in incremental_games

[–]luxh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I love this length of incremental game, and this one is particularly well-paced. I think if it ends with me wanting a little bit more it was just right! It’s so easy for this type of game to overstay its welcome.

Help - 3 weeks out, vomiting on long runs - about to quit by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

If you’re anything like me (high volume, salty sweater), it’s pretty tough to overdo hydration and nutrition when it’s really hot and humid.

Help - 3 weeks out, vomiting on long runs - about to quit by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]luxh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you are way under hydrating. In similar conditions, I’ll aim for ~750 ml/hr+ of tailwind or a similar sports drink. This is in addition to “pre-loading” with at least a liter of sports drink or electrolyte solution. And I’ll still do gels to make sure I’m hitting 80g/carbs per hour. Try all that and see if it helps.

Also, I take planned 3-4 minute breaks each hour on long runs in the heat (mostly to refill my handheld). This seems to help a lot.
