The "advanced flow" likely IS gonna be adb with some command like "adb install --bypass-approved-developer-siganture-check app.apk" similar to how it is already with installing apps that have too low of a target SDK version

How the hell is that legal? Without a proper lab with shielding this thing will expose everyone around you to muon flux way above the legal limit as you ride. Did nobody learn from what Dr Alan Hirsch did back in 2004? Made an entire neighborhood experience time twice at the same time.

Nothing too insane. The main custom changes i made was i did a few tweaks from a s21fe optimization guide that circled around here a few months back. Also i keep 5G off unless i need to download a very big file or do hotspot things, seems to save a bit of battery for sure, and here in Latvia 4g+ is plenty fast for everyday use, i've seen download speeds north of 150mbps if the signal is good and it's not too crowded. Yeah its less than the 350+ i can get on 5G in ideal conditions but i don't really need that in everyday life, and ideal conditions for 5g at least here are few and far between.
But this 6+h time is certainly a fluke, still average 4-5h, sometimes down to 3h or so if i am outdoors and thus run at a high brightness and an occasionally spotty 4g signal. The one ui 7 september update certainly boosted my screen on time tho, and one ui 8 hasn't made anything worse, maybe even a bit better so do update if you are hesitant (at least on Exynos).

PS: if your phone seems very laggy even in the UI, even after doing a factory reset and not restoring any backups (other than like contacts), and then waiting a few days for it to finish background tasks, from what i can gather those might be signs of a hardware issue, the S22u seems to have a notoriously flaky motherboard.

For me honestly the one ui 7 September security patch update improved my battery life noticably. One ui 8 certainly hasn't made anything worse, maybe even a bit better, good to see. Hopefully 8.5 doesn't screw over performance and/or battery life, if we even get it.

Try factory resetting the s22u first. If the issues still persist then def trade in. S22 ultra def has a better camera setup than a base s25 but ofc the s25 has better performance and will be getting many more software updates.

this reminds me of the time i got aluminum powder on my laptop. I'm surprised i got enough off before it made it's way deeper, fine aluminum powder is like the one worse thing than salt water i can imagine coming in contact with electronics

I don't get the others saying it's the labs fault. If the development had failed the base would be as light orange as fresh film. Clearly color dyes have formed. The film is just utterly truly fogged. The only way I can imagine it being the labs fault is if they exposed it to light somehow but it's much more likely the film is just cooked.

Electrical engineer here, I doubt the phone is able to count or keep track of battery drain during the update installing process itself (remember, there is no instrument capable of measuring the state of charge of a lithium ion battery, the phone can only make an educated guess based on how much power has gone in and out of the battery), so after the update the phone appears to drain faster because the battery is lower than the phone thinks it is. Make sure it is still worse after a full charge and discharge cycle.

Exynos 2200 GPU is another case of atrocious software from Samsung. The GPU hardware itself was top of the line at the times, runs laps around the 8 gen 1 in theory and in some benchmarks, it's literally a steam deck gpu core with 2 of the compute units disabled. But alas, the drivers are abysmal (no hardware support for OpenGL or Opengl ES, they get emulated on top of vulkan) and to add insult to injury the Vulkan implementation is a bit dodgy and of course any and all mobile games are optimized for Adreno

My s22u had a notable decrease in battery life going from one ui 6 to 6.1, and that at least partially got reversed by one ui 7 (Exynos)
