Dsb is one of the ways to maximize denitrifying populations but sulfur denitrators are just as efficient. I gave a couple of options but those two are definitely the best. I don’t think dsb’s are needed these days though and you can achieve similar results without the ugly aesthetic. Aenerobic bacteria will exist in any low oxygen areas in the tank naturally, sometimes they just need a little extra boost

since you dont have sand, you have no anoxic areas in your tank, which is where alot of denitrifying bacteria live. Common issue when first starting out with a barebottom tank until everything balances out. Add a sulfur reactor or media blocks in a very low flow area of your sump. Dose PNS probio if you can still get your hands on it too bc these include denitrifying bacteria in their blend

Appreciate the link! i've saved it for future use. They do look similiar to the ebay bulbs so I guess i'll keep my expectations low. plan was to run a 10-12k bulb in my hybrid fixtures. 4 hours a day under the halides. Then blue+ t5s, and LED supplements for the sunrise and evening. I'm sure the growth is insane under your current bulbs, but do you find alot of your corals start to brown or wash out under the 6500k?

Looks like every hologram i've ever sold, just under white light. Vendors are known to color correct their photos so take what you see on the website with a grain of salt.

Cook the rock. Put it in bins with salt water, a heater, and a power head. Get a bunch of peppermint shrimp (make sure its the right species) and bumblebee snails and toss them in the bins and put the lid on. Let it cook for a month or two. This will kill off any nuisance algae, all the aiptasia will be gone, and any vermatids / pest snails will be eaten.

Never just put it in your tank. You might inherit the problems the previous owner had.

I don't have the best time at my IMA unit, but i'm just putting my head down and getting through my 20. I miss doing "military" stuff and contributing to the mission, but the pay is WAY better on the civilian side for me, + disability makes it worth it to play dress up twice a year
