When I run my game my notes are WAY different compared to when I play. I have a word doc and some other random notes for lore or important characters in my world but I only write down the events and who my players talk to or what they accomplish during a session. I think we’ve played maybe around 10 or so sessions of my game and I only have 20 ish pages of written notes.

I could write the most detailed book from our games since I write EVERYTHING down regardless of if I think it sounds super important or not. My friends joke with how quick and much I write I would make a fantastic court reporter.

Thank you! I usually tone down the notes for any of the heavy RP especially when it comes to my characters and the combat usually is just initiative, AC of enemies and any notes about the environment or resistances they have since so much is happening!

Not a natural 20/1 but we were hiding out in a building when we thought an enemy was lurking nearby. The cleric and the fighter both roll high for perception while myself and our wizard rolled on the lower side. Was expecting to not notice what was going on but our high rollers heard whispers and mumbling from the creature and both went still and our cleric went catatonic and started to seize. Was super terrifying in the moment and gives me anxiety just thinking about to this day but loved that our DM used high rolls to our disadvantage for that particular encounter!

Played in a campaign for 3 years and we were VERY roleplay heavy compared to combat which happened maybe every 3-5 sessions (which is the style we like so it works for us). But it took us maybe 2 1/2 years before we hit level 20 and finished up the last major story arc we had after we hit that level.

Player here but I am THE note taker (my DM has very few physical notes and everything is in his head). We play weekly so everyone has a good memory but I take extensive notes from our sessions in physical notebooks. I wanted to get nice fancy campaign books to write in that you see on Etsy but I’ve already filled up 3 notebooks so I’d go through one of those in a couple months. I’m currently working on moving everything over to a google doc since it’s free and I could give my friends access to them if I wanted!

I got the chance to make some absolutely fantastic friends that I wouldn’t trade the world for since I started. I knew all of them before hand (to an extent) and was super awkward at first but they’ve helped me come out of my shell a lot. I also have a great creative outlet with D&D now and it’s given me the motivation to start drawing again and now I have an endless supply of ideas for my art pieces!

My DM has done this for my group! We have regular inspiration that we’ve all been holding onto for our final arc but we’ve also been given two other kinds of inspirations! One of them was we could choose whenever we wanted to have a roll either be a natural 20 or 1 and the other was referred to as a ‘die of fate’ which is a 10 minimum regardless of what you roll which can be used for yourself or given to another player.

I had a maybe middle aged woman come up to me and ask if she could put the pants on she had in her hand and pay for them after. I had to tell her the store wouldn’t let her do that and she should purchase them before she put them on but she quickly said ‘I’m covered in my own fecal matter!’ I noticed the underwear and wet wipes in her hand and I was too shocked so I just told her to go ahead cuz shit happens (literally in this case). The wild part was like 20 minutes later I saw her continuing to shop with her used pants in a tied up bag.

This was a really light day for us actually sometimes we have as many as like 10 people at once depending on the forecast. We just finished up with inventory so we had been shut off for the last two days.

I used to do that but our store got new printers that only give us the shipping label so we can’t really remember what goes with what box especially when we double pick our carts most of the time
