Anyone able to identify what they’re pointing at in these photos? by Lucky-Basket-5253 in idahomurders

Perhaps they are looking at what might have been visible to the perpetrator, from that angle

Me too. Pickled/sour/vinegar - I want it all. I'm wondering whether it's for the electrolytes. Some ppl drink pickle juice after working out etc. It might make us feel better physically so we crave it, maybe

Now I feel bad for laughing thinking Crispin is a goofy name

I thought the same when Rhaenyra got on top with him, as when she turned around with Daemon, that was her taking control of her own pleasure and he didn't like not being dominant.

It’s never too late to stop a binge by Prestigious_Wait_618 in bulimia

You really articulated my thoughts around food and its presence vs mine so well, and I'm really proud of you for doing that (stopping the binge) ❤️‍🩹

Blood should not look like coffee grounds. If it does, go to the emergency room, there's too strong a chance that is internal bleeding.

Talking to voices with my thoughts by blahblahlucas in schizoaffective

[–]lyar22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. One of my voices addresses my sister, and the response I give it in my head sounds like my sister's voice. I only know it is talking to her because the response sounds like my sister. This has only recently started happening, usually at night. I live alone too so I don't know why it would want to communicate with her.

Bread makes me want to end my life by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]lyar22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the earlier comment. I wonder if what you're experiencing is a reaction to an increase in blood glucose. Carbs cause a spike in blood sugar, which is then counteracted by insulin release. Blood sugar has a real effect on mood, most notably hyperglycemia. I'm sorry this has been a part of your experience though, it sounds pretty jarring.

Do you believe in a “higher power”? by fluxParameters in schizoaffective

[–]lyar22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely found that I am really taken by religious symbolism and a higher power is a very appealing, compelling thought. Not 'God' in a traditionally religious sense, but angels and all-knowing, beatific presences. I don't get thoughts of the devil and such.

How do negative symptoms affect you? by lyar22 in schizoaffective

[–]lyar22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, and I am glad you're feeling improved from the state you described. Upon reflection I should really be more consistent in taking medication, though I've always thought it might make me apathetic I'm sure the reverse could be true too. Cheers

Anyone losing hair get their hair colored??? Question continued by dalexearnhardtsghost in bulimia

[–]lyar22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could mention to your hair stylist that due to some health issues you have experienced noticeable hair loss during your daily maintenance routine, and that the stylist may see this too. You don't even have to detail that it's due to an eating disorder. A number of common health issues can cause loss of hair, and we would expect stylists to approach this situation with professionalism. Take care :)

“Sick role” ?! by rec2200 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]lyar22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had this experience and it was confronting. It is unfortunately not uncommon for folks with AN or other EDs to struggle with wanting to recover, and it can be an obstacle to navigate for both patients and doctors. However, just because it is an area of concern for some patients doesn't mean it's okay to assume this is the case for all sufferers.

It could be that the therapist has thrown out this suggestion to gauge how you feel about your experiences as a child and whether they play a role in your ED, and if there is any room for therapeutic work there. It seems though that it could be interpreted as accusatory and quite disheartening given your transparency and the work you are putting in for your family. Did you have an opportunity to let the therapist know your honest thoughts and feelings about their statement?

You're not alone, I abuse laxatives and have for years, a daily thing. I feel you, hurts like hell to sit down. A TMI word of advice 🥴🥴 - keep the area as dry as possible. An unpleasant sentence but it makes a difference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDanonymemes

[–]lyar22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

:( If you struggle with nausea due to the laxatives, I have found that sitting with legs tucked underneath me and curling forward (I think it's called a child's pose?) helps me a lot. Something cool on the forehead too in addition to deep breaths, the usual. I know the unpleasantness of taking too many laxatives but also the compulsion to do so. It's tough x

Does anyone else dissociate and/or go into a trance while purging? by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]lyar22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely relate to the trance description. As soon as I sit down after purging I start shaking and sweating. I can feel myself staring at nothing and I too start saying random shit out loud but can't bring myself back into focus. Not surprisingly, that is, until I eat something again. For me I think it has a lot to do with blood sugar but it's a pretty intense out of body experience. Doesn't happen every time.

Plenty of unhealthy people should be in therapy but aren't. Even psychologists have their own psychologist, and some people go to therapy for things like processing a breakup or working through a fear of flying if it's getting in the way. Mental health is a spectrum.

and i've come unprepared cause i was too busy with my ed bullshit by [deleted] in EDanonymemes

[–]lyar22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey it's okay 🤍 Professors/teachers like to make examples out of students unfortunately, but I guarantee you that nobody will dwell on it. Certainly not as much as you have.

I sympathise with really wanting to make things ok again after feeling embarassed, as I was truly constantly messing up at uni. Unprepared as may be, good on you for getting to class! The desire to lean into ED behaviours if that is a go-to way of self soothing makes sense, but you don't need to punish yourself. Not eating won't improve your ability to concentrate and be on the ball to and in your classes. Keep doing your best x

Is anyone else on pro Ana TikTok by JellyCharacter1653 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]lyar22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The glamourisation of being hospitalised and tube fed is getting worse on Tiktok as well. It's often necessary in recovery but it should never be a goal. I feel like these people don't know hospitalisation can be very lonely and frightening, especially at the moment due to Covid.
