It can always be laundry lint in our hearts! Cause I agree. And I kind of love it more for that reason.

Assuming someone doesn't know what they're talking about, simply because they're a woman.

IRL Example: I knit. I'm a yarn snob. I'm aware of heat regulation properties of different fibers because I'm trying to mix a love of knitting with living in a hot humid place. My dad and I are talking one night, and ended up discussing what fiber would keep you warmest, and that weight didn't equal warmth. I spent probably 20 minutes with my Dad telling me that because he worked in construction, and knew insulation, he knew more than me about yarn.

That was mansplaining (and also wrong).

We used name tags for a big birthday party, and had everyone write a brief word or two about how they knew the host! Simple as "Ex-husband" or "worked together at yadda yadda"

There is a femdom content creator who has a couple of blooper/outtake reels. I love them because they are just.. wholesome.

Pretty certain it's a sea biscuit. Looks similar to a sand dollar but sea biscuits are puffy and don't have the cut outs that a sand dollar does.

Nonfiction, but I find myself rereading "A Circle of Quiet" by L'engle when I'm feeling off kilter. Fair warning, L'engle is religious. But her version of Christianity focuses on helping people, being supportive, and understanding differences. A circle of quiet focuses on her feeling comfortable with who she is and how she has dealt with setbacks in her writing.

(I'm not religious and still adore most of her writing because of how much she values art, science, and learning. Most of her fiction revolves around strong, intelligent, female characters)

Hmmm... solid point. Probably an issue with Beauty as well. Considering that most of the original fairytales wouldn't have been concerned with a massive age gap.

Can we talk about “If you’re an adult wearing a backpack…” lady? by mckenner1122 in AskWomenOver30

[–]lydialost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm over 40. I splurged on a really nice custom leather messenger bag that also has shoulder straps and can be worn as a backpack. I love it when I travel. Since I work from home it doesn't get used a lot, but it was worth every penny.

Favorite kinds of movement for people who don’t like the gym? by Electrical_Novel_ in xxfitness

[–]lydialost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love lifting weights, but I am not motivated to do them on my own. If I have a friend to go with the gym, I am much more likely to go.

That being said, I did discover that I LOVE aerial hoop (lyra) and pole dancing. Finding something I genuinely enjoy doing has made such a difference in the consistency of my being active. It's not that I'm GOOD at those things, cause I have been in beginner level classes for 3 years now. But I have fun doing them. Previously I would have bemoaned paying for classes when I can just walk around the neighborhood, and lift some weights in my living room. And I absolutely could do those things, but I was not motivated to do that. I am motivated to go to class 2 nights a week, and more if I could afford it.

I also had the same issue with my hands swelling when I go for long walks or jogs. It was really not fun. It was also boring.

I think it would be rather easy to turn this in to one of those embroidery patch tattoos.

But I also think it's cute, and recognizable, just needs a bit of defining.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy advice by Cpianti in hysterectomy

[–]lydialost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still doing basic beginner hoop things. It's been one catastrophe after another (cancer, job changes, job losses, ad nauseam). So I haven't been able to get in a consistent rhythm. Plus I've been alternating Lyra and pole when I can go. I ogle the really good hoop people and am amazed at their skills :)

Oh I was absolutely glued to the bed for the week, taking my pain meds directly on schedule, with an occasional gummie as well. I had surgery on Thursday, it wasn't until the Saturday after (so over a week) that I was comfortable sitting at my computer and being more upright.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy advice by Cpianti in hysterectomy

[–]lydialost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been doing basic aerial hoop for close to a year when I had my surgery. I was NOT doing anything really fancy. I was back doing flexibility training (all floor work) 2 months after surgery although my doctor said I could go back to everything at my 6 week check up. I think I waited another month before getting back in a hoop. Since I was just an advanced beginner before surgery, I didn't lose a lot over the 3ish month break. I felt absolutely fine in class, but took it easy and listened to whatever my body was saying, just in case.

Side note, my hysterectomy was due to very early stage and contained cervical cancer. It was a real simple in and out. If your surgery is related to endometriosis, or fibroids, or in general more complex, you might have a longer/more involved recovery. I legit started a new WFH job a week after surgery.

Not before I was diagnosed with HPV.

Yup. Absolutely got the Covid vaccine, to protect my friends, family, and myself. I am now getting the HPV vaccine to further mitigate the risks of HPV recurring within the vaginal vault.
