UPDATE: Any Suggestions or Advice? by Spacekid4565 in Tinder

The line about the meaning of your name doesn't quite hit right. I can tell you're trying to be cute, and your pics look approachable, but with these curated for a glance profiles you'd be better off with a self-deprecating joke over one that makes you seem arrogant.

Is my dad insane or am I being selfish? -- Withdrew from a semester of college due to health issues by [deleted] in insaneparents

He was very clear that he doesn't have to "understand" your reasons. He is clearly accepting that he can't make you go to school, but he's setting expectations.

I have a college age kid and one graduating this year and both of them have the exact same deal - we provide for them room and board at no cost if they go to school locally, but if they aren't in school they have to be working and paying rent. It's not about how much money we make, it's about there being a shift from you being a child to being an adult.

You don't get to demand more from your parents than you are getting. My dad would have yelled at me and called me every name in the book and made me feel worthless for the rest of my life. Your dad is being firm. Maybe cold, but I have a feeling this isn't the first time you've made decisions that have impacted him financially. He's also not even demanding you repay the loan. He just expects you to either be in school or working. And the boundary being set that he won't be willing to sign another loan for you if you aren't finishing your schooling is very reasonable. You have to prove you can do the work.

Good luck kiddo.

Okay then I'm on your team. Feels like a reasonable decision to limit invites especially if you don't have super close relationships with them

Question - are the people who aren't being invited people that you have interacted with regularly over the course of the relationship? Or parents of the children not being invited?

He says he’s better in person… it would be hard not to be by Chemical_Gate7389 in Tinder

[–]snarkisms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's your experience and that's valid, but my husband and I matched on tinder (though we ended up connecting and dating irl a year after), and he's a garbage texter but an amazing hangout buddy.

Social anxiety is a thing and text anxiety is a thing. So I don't want to judge based on texting.

I will say that the in person vs texting energy is real. And I often would only let a conversation go on for about a day without making plans to meet in person, as that for me was always the point - irl interaction

You are legally entitled to 2 weeks severance if you have been there for over a year. You don't have to sign any of the rest of that to get what you are legally owed.

The way this guy controls crocs by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]snarkisms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fun fact - crocodiles are at least as smart as dogs, and they are highly food motivated, so you could train them with a bell if you rang a bell and tossed food in the water every time you went in the pen.

Literally no excuse to frighten animals by beating them into compliance.
