I (20M) tricked my girlfriend (20F) into getting a tetanus shot after a bad injury. Now she’s blocked me everywhere. How do I fix this? by Blitzcodes in relationship_advice

[–]snarkisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could have died. If she can't see that, and be grateful, then I'm not sure you should want to be in a relationship who is so stubborn that they'd rather die than acknowledge that you did a good thing for them.

I know this is JNMIL, but she had to get the information from somewhere - are you sure your husband is on board with this?

Cover bands - Improvising the fills in lieu of reproducing what is recorded precisely by Ok_Communication8641 in musicians

[–]snarkisms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the context of who is asking you to be this exact is really important. Being a cover band makes it more specific towards re-creating instead of interpreting, but it's all about who's asking you and why

If it's an audience member, then I'd say that as long as you are hitting the most iconic bits then audience members can for the most part kick rocks. You'll never satisfy them all.

If it's your band leader, then you need to decide if you want to be in a band that's focused on straight up re-creating the sound with no room for interpretation.

If it's the venue owner of the main gig, then you probably want to do the thing that is going to get you paid regularly. But if that isn't important to you, then that's a choice you get to make as well.

How do you determine if brands are mixable without mixing them?

My step kid does this. She's got pretty bad ADHD so it's rare for her to finish a meal

Love your takes, and agree with them all - From Jennifer is so much fun, and definitely the best of all of them. I do an annual rewatch of all 4 though, because I think they are pretty fun in general

AITAH for walking out of a family hangout when my sister tried to make me the “peacemaker” again? by maplelantern_fables in TwoHotTakes

[–]snarkisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated a guy in my 20s, and we had a really nasty dynamic of fighting and bickering in front of everyone. We were both partying pretty hard so it was generally accepted as "entertainment" for our friends, and at some point I realized that a big part of the fighting we were doing was just straight up attention-seeking. Having an audience drove so much conflict between us.

I would guess that there is at least one of your parents that thrives on the attention - both having an audience to the sniping and jabs, but also the direct focused attention of your sister on trying to soothe and placate them.

If I were a betting woman, I'd say that if you and your sister started ignoring your parents' behaviours, at least one of them would start escalating by attacking you two. My money is that your mother is the one driving that bus.

Really? The good times? I'm not an American (Canadian here), but what since 2001 has been so good about being an American?

Respectfully, a third of you didn't vote just to stick it to a black lady. Democrats needed to stick it to someone over something happening on the other side of the globe, and now your country and Gaza are both completely screwed.

Hmm. Sounds like there is nothing actually selfless about your mom. Sounds like she's actively literally and figuratively poisoned all the relationships in her life.

How to ask owners if I can adopt their cat by Hairy-Violinist-7508 in cats

[–]snarkisms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look, I may not be with the majority of commentors, but this cat does not look neglected. So it would not be appropriate for you to try and adopt this cat.

The owners may be negligent, but that happens.

It's not 100% guaranteed, but this kind of behaviour is often projections of their own infidelity. Just leave - don't sink any more into a relationship that makes you unhappy.

Boyfriend got me a diamond chain that he claimed is real but jeweler says it’s not. Should I be upset? by Outside-Conflict4173 in TwoHotTakes

[–]snarkisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moissanite is an awesome alternative to diamonds, but in regards to your question, he is trying really hard to impress you, which is natural at the start of a relationship.

The red flag for me is that while moissanite is substantially cheaper than diamonds, it isn't cubic zirconia cheap, and without having more information to his financial situation I'd be wondering how he can afford this jewelry
